Your opinion on spirit hoods (fluffy animal hoods)?

Perhaps some of you may be farmiliar with this new fashion trend, although many may not know what the hell I'm talking about so I'm going to do my utmost best to try to describe this.

The item in question, is essentially, a fluffy animal hat. Its kind of like the hood of a hoodie, its got ears ontop (either pointed or rounded depending on which animal the hood resembles), and it has long scarf like pieces hanging down at the sides with pockets for your hands at the end.

Sounds pretty weird (for those of you who don't know what it is) right? Perhaps if I'm not describing it well enough you can go google how it looks.

Nevertheless, I am obsessed with them. I have owned 3, I now own 2. They aren't the original Spirithoods from LA (because I don't live in USA and I don't have 180 dollars to my name) but they're pretty damn identical.

A lot of people out there think they're retarded and/or only for ravers at music festivals. I like music festivals, but I'm not a raver and I've only really been to one actual music festival.

What are your opinions on this, if you have one? I don't know a lot of people who know what they are so it would be cool to hear opinions of others.

Like what you like. As long as it isn't hurting anyone else, who cares

What you are describing sounds pretty creepy to me. Best not surprise me in the dark wearing one of these.

    • No creepier than the fact that crop tops are back in fashion and everytime I go to the mall I see atleast one girl wearing a crop top and letting her flabby stomach hang out for everyone to see.

Witness that and my fluffy wolf hood would look pretty damn appealing.

My coworkers dog really doesn't like it. Someone stole my other hat and it was freezing so I wore my hat that looks like a racoon. Bad idea around dogs.

And OP, I got mine in 2007.

      • Well shit, you really did get yours before they were trendy then it seems!

Do you live in the US? And is it easy to find them there?

Hat thieves should be strung up next to horse thieves; no trial, no pity.

I'm going to sound so hipster by saying this, but I had one of those way before it was trendy. And now I hate wearing it. Too many fucking people with goddamn animals in their head. My quirky little accessory is now common. That almost never happens.

    • To be honest with you, I bought mine before I had ever seen anyone else wear one, too.

I saw one on a manequin at one of those super cheap chinese shops, and decided to buy it. A few weeks later I saw a friend wearing one. A few months later I went to Earthdance music festival (2013) and there were a fair amount of people wearing them, mostly the ravers though and I'm more the tattooed and pierced alternative type so it was pretty much just me in our friends group wearing one.

I wasn't really satisfied with the quality of that one though so I bought two more, decent quality ones.

I like in a small town and the "party" scene here isn't that huge so not too many people are seen wearing them, but they look too damn cool to me.

It's not new. I've seen them at this dumb store we have in malls here called Hot Topic for at least 5 years. But yeah I wouldn't ever wear one.

I don't see the appeal, but I see no problems with seeing people wear them. My sister has one of a dog and her boyfriend has a monkey one. To each their own.
    :)

I know those things.. I wouldn't wear one because it comes off as attention seeking :)
I do own a pair of pants with a tail though =/
But that's different.. because I like it
