Frequently Asked Questions

How do I submit a post or comment?

The site has been shut down for new submissions and comments. Unfortunately the owner doesn't have time to manage, moderate and keep up with new content.

Where can I find my own submissions and comments?

When you're signed in, you'll see a link at the top of the page that says 'My Stuff'. Click this link to see your your stuff.

What is that safe(r) mode link near the top of the page?

This website has a lot of posts and comments on it that many people out there might be offended by. To help shield these fragile eyes from the pain of looking at such things, when Safe(r) mode is on, the site attempts to hide as much of it as possible. However, at any time, you can click on that link in the top right hand corner to reveal all the good stuff that Is It Normal has to offer. We'll remember your choice too, so you only have to click it once if you want to see everything. By the way, we call it "safe(r) mode" and not "safe mode" because we know we're not perfect and we won't be able to ever make this completely "safe". It's as safe as we can make it.

Are posts reviewed by moderators? Does anything go?

We are a very small team and we do what we can. Posts reported by the community are reviewed by our staff and if needed they are removed from the site. The same goes for comments. If you see something, say something! (report it. thanks.)

How can I delete a submission of mine?

If you are the author of a post, when viewing that posts's page you will see a "Delete" button directly below the post's contents. Press this button to delete your post from the site. If you are having trouble finding it, just email us at [email protected] and we'll help you out.

How can I delete a comment that I made?

When signed in, you'll see a small "Delete" link inside any comment of yours while your mouse is hovering over that comment. Just click that link and the comment will be permanently removed. You can also edit new comments for a few minutes after posting them by using the "Edit" link.

I hate your ads! Why don't you get rid of them??

IIN costs money to run, so unfortunately we need the ads. Servers, moderators, programmers, etc. BUT, we don't show any ads to registered users and registration is quick and free. So, sign up for a free account and you'll have a nicer, ad-free IIN experience.

I forgot my password how can I change it?

If you've forgotten your password or your username you can fill in the form here: http://www.isitnormal.com/forgot-password/ We'll look up your email address and send you a link to reset your password. Don't forget to check your spam folder for the email if it doesn't come soon.

Will my username be shown with my posts?

No. Only with your comments.

Someone on the site is really bothering me, what can I do about it? Can I block them?

1) If the person is violating the community guidelines, please report any objectionable posts or comments that they are making so that we can look into it.
2) You reserve the right to block any IIN user. There will be a link to block a member at the top of their profile page. Click that and you will no longer see any comments by them, and they will no longer be able to see your comments or your posts.

Why do I have to verify my email address to post content to the site?

IIN has strived to be as anonymous and free-speech friendly as possible since its inception. It is with great sadness that we added the email verification requirement. This was done as a measure, among others, to help stop people who were seeking to disrupt the site and ruin the ability for others to have productive conversations. We wish we didn't have to do it, but it had to be done. We will NEVER give your email address to any 3rd party and we will never email you unless you ask us to.

If you are very concerned about your anonymity, we absolutely encourage you to sign up for a fake gmail or yahoo mail account and use that to register with on IIN. If you need your email address changed, you can do so via the Settings page on the site.
