You have no idea what's going on, stop commenting when i'm watching tv
I'm in college and I live in a dorm room with my roommate. She doesn't watch tv, but I do, so of course I bring my own tv to my room to watch my reality tv. Now I know that they're all trash, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine.
Because of how the tv is set up, it's directly across my bed, sitting on her dresser and her desk is right next to the tv, so she's sitting right next to the tv when she's doing homework at night. The reality shows that I watch aren't available on hulu and it's difficult for me to find them online, so the easiest way for me to watch them is on the premiere night, usually around eight or nine o'clock at night.
I'm already a little embarrassed to watch them when she's in the room because of how crass they can be, specifically because she's very religious, and I assume, she isn't use to that type of behavior.
But what kind of pisses me off is when she starts commenting and half-watching what is on the tv screen. I understand it's a bit distracting because she's sitting right next to it, and she's probably doing it because she thinks she's showing interest in something I'm interested in, but it's so. Fucking. Annoying.
I'm trying to watch tv (Or movies for that matter) and she has to comment like, "Women are so catty, sometimes I feel sorry for men" or "If she's going to have sex all the time, why doesn't she get married?" or "She/He seems nice" or at the mention of someone saying penis/vagina/anything related to sex "What is she talking about? O_O" and sometimes, I would have to explains something to her, like how this person is actually mean or how this woman's husband isn't an angel or the backstory of whatever's going on in the show.
It's so fucking annoying. It honestly just makes me want to not watch tv around her period. (And what's the point of me having a tv if I can't use it to watch anything?)
My dad does almost the exact same thing, but I don't know, I feel like because he's my dad, I can tell him to stop judging me or go away or stop saying stuff. But my roommate is so sweet and nice, and adores me to death that I know saying anything like, "Can you please stop making comments while I'm watching tv?" would really hurt her feelings.
But it's still pisses me off to high heaven when she DOES make her little comments, even though I know she means no harm by them. But I'm trying to watch tv, and I don't like to be bothered by people who comment on things they no nothing about.
is it normal that it pisses me off when my roommate (or just anyone period) makes harmless comments about what I'm watching on tv when they have no idea what's going on?
