Wwyd if you found cp on your partner's computer?

What would you do if you found child pornography on your significant other's computer or mobile device? For the sake of clarity, let's say it's not of anyone you know, not violent, but real pictures and indisputably child porn. Pictures that show a little kid masturbating, or things like that.

I apologize if this is too creepy, but it's a situation people face in real life, so I wondered how the average person would handle it.

  • I would confront them about it for sure. Depending on how they reacted to the confrontation would determine my next course of action.

Knowing my gf. If that was on her computer I would assume she stumbled on it while researching how to help victims of it. If it was on browser history. If it was saved to pics or vids I would be more concerned. Either way, I would ask about it.

I'm not sure what I'd do, aside from confronting them. It's hard to imagine that situation.

I don't think I'd immediately report them to the police. If they admitted to downloading the porn, and gave reassurances they'd delete it and not do it again, if they explained that they had this paraphilia for children but that they wanted to control it and they regrettably 'slipped' by downloading the illegal content.. Maybe I'd be sympathetic, especially if I was in love with them.

Paedophiles have a mental illness that they can't help - they drew a short straw. Whilst I think those paedophiles who act on their impulses and sexually abuse a child have to take responsibility for their actions and should be punished, I feel more pity for those who do not sexually abuse children and have never done so, but still have to control this sexual desire which is the greatest social taboo.

I'm not sure I'd want to condemn them on the basis of illegal pornography that they had no part in creating, providing they were remorseful and wanted help. I'd feel like a callous bastard for doing so. If you love someone, generally you try and support them if they're struggling with mental health problems.

I dunno, what I would do. I like to think that I would consider the child who was victimized and exploited so horribly and report him. I dunno if there is any way to report someone anonymously, but there ought to be.

Report, confront, then leave. I don't care how much I love my partner, if they're looking at child porn I hate them and I can't forgive them. I understand that paedophilia is a mental illness but I'd expect my partner to control it and/or get help, the same way I'd expect a psychopath or a sadist not to kill people even though that's what their mental illness might give them the urge to do.

I'd definitely break up with them, and I'd definitely cease all contact and I'd definitely warn my friends away from them.

I don't know what else I could do, because I don't know what the best way to moderate that behaviour is. I don't trust punishment or prison to work on that sort of behaviour, I don't believe psychological therapy can eliminate sexual desires, and I don't believe in killing people. I suppose I'd report them. That way at least they'll go on the sex offenders register and they wouldn't be able to work with children.

Physical castration is a very good solution, and a permanent one.

First id buy a taser. id taser them until they pass out. tie them up drive them to the grand canyon. tase them again. burn their D or V with a lighter. tase them again. poo the biggest poo i ever poo'd on them. tase them again. ram their head threw my car window. tase them again. knock them out. then we drive and get a stronger taser then drive back. gouge 1 eye out by hand. tase them again. make them drink a gallon of spoiled milk then kick them off spartan style down the grand canyon. drive to the bottom then tase their dead body. all while singing my song "what is love"

I'd definitely freak out. I would want to confront them about it, but I would be scared to do to so. I hope that I'll never have to go through this with someone I love. That would completely break me, I think.

As long as they were not involved with the creation of the pictures, my biggest concern would be just the fact that it's illegal. Especially if we lived together, because I really don't look forward to getting raided by the police. We'd definitely need to have a chat about that.

  • Not too sure, but I wouldn't report it. Technically no one's being hurt, so it's no one's business.

You don't think the kid is having their rights invaded by having that picture circulated?

      • What about all the adults featured in pictures or video being spread across the web against their will? Why is that not illegal?

And according to this hypothetical situation, the person is simply looking; not promoting or circulating. No one should be punished for looking at something!

It creates demand for child abuse. How is that ok?

And children are different to adults. Both are wrong, but it is more despicable in the case concerning children. We are meant to protect not exploit them.

          • I'm referring simply to the viewing of such materials. The purchase, circulation, and of course production of such things are different matters entirely.

It is illegal to take and circulate a pornographic picture of an adult without their consent, same as it is with a child - there's no double standard. Although I didn't say it whether I thought it should be illegal or not; I just said it is wrong.

Even looking at a picture which you could reasonably know was taken without their consent and they should reasonably require consent for it to be taken, is violating their rights. And I didn't say whether I thought anyone should be punished or not; I just said that it is wrong.

So you wouldn't report the guy or lady who faps to a child being victimized? Are you serious or are you trolling?
