Would you talk to your friend about their obesity?

Let's say you had a friend you've loved dearly for years. Lately, he's/she's been gaining lots of weight and you've noticed it's affecting his/her health and making it harder to do things, but they deny it. Would trying to confront and help them through weight loss be considered rude, or the right thing?

Heck, I'd go on a diet with them! 17
They're probably going through a lot, if something happens I'll help. 21
I'd'd talk to them about it, maybe get their family to help. 8
I'd feel like a douche asking about that, it's their problem. 16
I'm in the obese situation, and I would want... (comment) 2

I'd pretend I wanted to do things but needed their company.
eg. Walk the dog, go to exercise classes, join a gym, etc

If they're happy with it then who cares?

    " but they deny it"

Most likely they know the truth. They just don't want to talk to *you* about it.

I'm not in this situation, I was just thinking about it. I've had friends who've gone through this, but never a true best friend, and I wanna know about that.

Well think about how those others reacted to people talking to them?

Did they welcome the help or did they get mad and tell them to leave off?

I mean it's not as if they can't tell their clothes aren't fitting anymore. They probably knew it before you did anyway.

I wouldn't randomly say it, no. Only if it was mentioned first by my friend and then I would gradually put it into the conversation.
