When you are asking for organs I think they are going to put you at the bottom of the list.

This is actually the most clever thing I have ever heard you say.

Can the person who needs it be really rich, so I wouldn't feel bad for charging a lot?

I would donate to family or friends if I knew I were a match. I wouldn't sell an organ.

I'm registered as an organ donor, though.

No, but I would donate if eligible to someone that I loved or cared for.

I'd say around $20,000, BUT if it was legal then they wouldn't likely be worth that much anymore. So, if it were legal I probably wouldn't do it since it wouldn't be worth it.

    • No need to over-analyze. We're assuming kidney's are still in high demand and how much you'd require to give up one of yours to save a life. :)

Sorry, I was just trying to be realistic about it! I mean, I coulda asked for $1,000,000 but I don't think anyone would pay that in the first place.

        • Yeah you could ask for a million or more. But I'm trying to gauge what the LOWEST money reward people would require to sell a kidney to save a strangers life.

Its not a matter of money it is matter of why and how much someone needed it. I would also consider the type of procedure and medical things that would have to be done to me in this case. Also who it was since if it someone that hated me their whole life no way I am going to save them to terrorize me some more. Sure it would not be good to kill them but if I simply let them die I am free of all wrong doing.

I`d never donate an organ while I was alive because I think that I need all my organs, including both kidneys.

I'd never donate any organ. Even if it meant saving someone close to me.

    I don't think they'd let me donate a kidney.

$500,000+ although if someone put a good offer on the table I'd consider it. Over $100K and I'd be tempted.

I would have to get at least 150,000 for it. If it was someone close I would do it for free. Body parts are yours and they are meant to stay in your body. Of someone needed a kidney for doing a bunch of drugs I wouldn't even look their way.

I'd do it for free. I don't care who they are or if I know them I don't and never had any money to give to charity but that could be something I could do It would improve both our lives someone would get a kidney and I'd be able to make it happen. Win win

I'd only donate it - I think it would be really cruel to hold someones life hostage by charging a huge amount of money.

I would never give away a kidney right now though. I'd rather wait until I was dead and try to die in a way which doesn't damage them.

You should. You know, if you get in a tragic accident and your brain dies.

If I had an accident and died, I doubt most people that know me would describe it as tragic.

More like hilarious or poetic justice.

And I'm an organ donor, I don't need the stuff after I'm gone to the big nest in the sky.

Probably anywhere from 150,000 or better. Yes, I realize this makes me a selfish bastard. I would also not like to know the receiver. My reasoning is that I wouldn't feel as guilty about taking the money if I didn't know them/their family at all. I'm not a very giving person...

    • I don't think it's that selfish. For one there are risks in any operation. Then there is recovery from said operation.

For two, you're saving a life, even if it's for a price. Most would say life is worth more than any amount of money, so at the very least you wouldn't have to feel guilty.

Personally I would require about $100,000 to sell a kidney.
