Reading body language and facial expressions is something I feel I can confidently say I have a real knack for.
Actually, I think we're all better at it than we believe we are. People get confused when the other person's words contradict what their reflexive body language is saying. That's when we have a 'gut feeling' that something else is going on with them. We also don't always pick up on those cues as well when we are busy dealing with our own emotional experience. But still, most of us pick up on those cues instinctively.
Oddly yes. I have difficulty actually expressing emotions of my own but reading others' is simple.
Not at all. I still have a hard time with it even when people try to explain how they feel.
I took a emotional expression test before and scored lower than average for someone with severe autism.
It really depends. I have a history with being terrible at this, but I have been getting better.
It depends on the person I guess...i am usually really bad at reading emotions unless it is a family member or close friend. Otherwise I am oblivious.
