Would you say that life is even worth living?

Think about it carefully: You're born into a world (a world that's full of Greed, Bigotry, Evil, and Pain) with none of your consent, you're thrown in public/Private education for 12 years (Unless you're homeschooled) only to go to more school an additional 2-6 years, you get a job, you go to that job everyday of every year, you get married, and have kids. You also pay bills, rent, and mortgages as well as taking care of pets, your car, yourself, and any close loved ones that live with you. Unless you're rebellious and different, you don't follow the LifeScript and you don't bow to society's orders or expections (living as a hermit). Unless you're rich, you're doomed to work and pay taxes forever and if you're dirt poor, you're doomed to suffer the rest of your life unless a miracle happens and you're suddenly a millionaire/billioniare. And what's worse, as you age, you grow feeble, senile, and helpless as if it's nature's way of punishing you for living into your 60s and beyond. And once you lay in your deathbed, you have no ability to reverse the effects or correct any mistakes that you might have made in your life. Not to mention you never get to see what your Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great grandchildren would be like or if they even have a good life at all and techincally, if one reproduces and carries on their family line, they're dooming that child or those children to a uncertain future. It's true that being a parent can be a rewardful responsibility. However, it's also the hardest and most risky thing that you can do. So, with all of this in mind, do you really think Life is worth living?

If you described YOUR life, then perhaps not. But not even a tiny bit of what you described has been MY life.
Life is all about what you do with it, not how much you bitch and moan about it.

    • If you are truthful than good for you, but the poster also outlined a lifeline that many people find that they had lived when looking back upon their life, if they lived into senior years.

Basically what I'm saying is the poster didn't sugarcoat it.

The OP didn't sugarcoat it, but they did strongly bias it. They removed all emotion and passion and personality from their description of life, focusing only on the dull and non-individual parts. They reduced the importance of the relationships we have with the people we love, and the things that *really* matter to people. Acknowledging that life is an experience not devoid of emotion is not sugarcoating.

        • Yes, but because you respectfully disagree with them doesn't change the tone of the message. Unfortunately there are many people who fully bought into the ideas of which the original poster expressed disdain for and those same individuals were wholly disappointed.

Well, that sucks and I agree with you on that. I don't think many of the ideas that are propagated in society are done so in the best interests of people.

            • I speak as a slave to money unfortunately lol, wish it wasn't so, but reality consumes me. Great conversation.

If you settle for that life, then that is your choice. Not everyone does. But you only get one shot at it; there is no guaranteed, fun filled afterlife.

Well, I'm glad I was born into my life, it's a different way of life to a lot of people and I love it.

My way of thinking is that "life" is what you make of it. If you want it to be something to "bitch" about, then that is what you will do. If you want to live life to the fullest and jump at all opportunities that come along, then you will appreciate where you are at any time.

I guess so. For me anyway.
Sure there's some bad stuff but I'd rather focus more on the positives and try to enjoy what little time I have here.
Kind of a waste to just sit around whining about everything.

  • After returning to the us I guess I could say I live mostly as a hermit.
