Sometimes the truth hurt's. But is it better for you to hear the truth even if it's terrible, then having to later find out on your own by yourself?

I prefer hints. Some people tell their opinions just like that, and no wonder why they don't have any friends (I know a few who are like this).
I use hints too. For example, somebody is quite bad at something and can't use a piece of software or something. Instead of saying "you really suck at this", I will just point them into the right direction, like by giving a link to a beginners tutorial or something.
It's ok passing on factual knowledge but if it's just their opinion - they can keep it to themselves coz I have no interest in what they think of what I do / how I look etc. There is nothing that makes their opinion more valuable than my own. I think people should look at themselves first and many are too quick to comment on things that are none of their business.
It does depend on the situation. If its something that I really rather know; such as how someone feels about me, then yes... I would like the brutally honest truth, even if it hurts. But if its something I don't need to know, that would hurt me, I rather not. Its not that I rather live in ignorance... but if I'm happy, and something would take that away from me by knowing, I don't want to know if it doesn't help me or change anything.
Hints are best, but when those fail I prefer they just be honest with me. You can be honest with people without deeply hurting them.
Don't use it as an excuse to be an ass. That will get you no respect. There is a fine line between brutally honest and just plain cruelty. But I hate liars and suck at it, so I prefer the truth in nearly every situation.
Why can't people just tell the frikn truth all the time. I would much rather hear the truth than hear B.S from someone that is only saying something because it sounds nice or because they say it out or being polite.
PLAIN AND BLUNT! sorry, but I belong to the group who is too stupid to understand... so I need to hear it as direct as a military order to do it the best! sadly... I'm fucking surrounded by people who doesn't want to hurt me or simply are too chicken to say what it is!
As others have pointed out, one can be truthful without being mean, hurtful, or disrespectful. I'd always rather hear the truth - for better or worse - because in the end, the other person will feel better about getting the truth off their chest, and I will be better off to re-evaluate and better myself.
Hell yeah i'd rather someone be honest. it shows they aren't scared of what anyone thinks. It shows they have some integrity. And if I should find it offensive so what. I respect the fact that someone actually spoke the truth. And said what was on their mind instead of sugar coating the BS. The world is filled with too many BS fed ppl, that truth has become a rarity.
Yes. Why bother having someone talk to you if they are not going to say anything useful?
I cant stand a liar...Its bad enough when a person is fooling themselves but to have another person reinforcing their delusions is crazy..thats why we have so many high strung whores on myspace and facebook who look hideous but yu couldnt convince them of that because of all the lies on their photo comments...
Yes. It is damn near impossible to achieve with some people. They would rather walk through fire rather than be perceived as being judgmental or cruel by anyone.
I woulf like to know the truth but If it was too bad I woud be cool if theres some kind of pill that made me forguete or forgive it, or both even
I'm really blunt and straight forward....and have lost a many friends because of it....I feel that sugar coating a situation is a waste of time and in the end the shit comes out anyway. give me the ugly truth any day I promise to thank you for it.
