Would you rather: be known for great lyrics or songs?

To further elaborate, let's say you were a musical artist. And let's say you were good at creating songs. Would you rather be known for the song itself (harmonies, musical instruments etc) and the way that the song is put together, or would you rather be known for your brilliant lyrics?

A question I asked my friend once. What would you rather be known for?

The music (including how the song is arranged and composed) 29
The lyrics and words 29

well.....the band "Beck", has some the most memoral songs ever( like e-pro, and loser), but the lyrics of the song itself, make literally no sense, even there lyrics writer jeff beck says "it's for the music man". i agree. except in my standpoint i'm a brilliant poetry writer and had a few of my poems sent out to be published in collection books, and on another standpoint i'm also a musical genius ranging several instruments all together( guitar, bass guitar, percussion, clarinet, bass clarinet, frenchorn, i sing very well, piano, and more). so what i believe on both of my standpoints, creating an equally muscally talented human, and lyrically talented human....i believe it just depends on the mood, are you in it for the inspiration, for you to agree with lyrics, political standpoints, hear something that makes you feel more carnal, or something to put some pep in your step. so...... for the people thinking about the superior variation...... think about it, have you ever listen to a song just for the music, you probably have.....have ever wanted to hear it for the inspirational music, most likely. there all just tools for the human mind to be more at peace with oneself, and to build upon the personality and styles which doesn't live for the status quo, and makes us independent, different, and self-reliable, which is usually frowned upon by our lessers. you are who your are, and the music you hear on the radio, elevator, cd, t.v., or even the jingle in your head applies to your life, and visual perseption of the world, as you see fit. in short.....I FUCKING LOVE MUSIC!!!!!

I'm so extremely sorry for my horrible MISTAKE to society, I heard that sometimes people make those little things called mistakes from time to time. This catastrophe must have been to hard for you to hold in so you call me an Idiot for screwing up a band name? The fuck man.

Good lyrics are nothing without good music to back them up.

Shame that there are so many people who know how to make good lyrics, but have no idea how to make good music.

If I cared only about lyrics and not about the music at all, I would just read a good book.
