Would you go to a local small scale aviary/bird zoo?

I would like to one day open a sanctuary/zoo that takes in abandoned birds, shelters them, and displays them to the public (along with exotic bought birds from across the world). However, I do not know how much or little this type of place would be in demand. Please let me know what you think and why or why not you would go.

nope, never 5
probably not unless i was dragged along by a significant other 7
possibly if it was interactive and had large and colourful parrots 6
Definately, I love birds 9

  • If my small city of Pooploops (named after the stinky pulp-mill smoke stack west of town), had something like that, I would go. We already have a wildlife park that is quite popular year-round. There's also a 'local' (about 20Km out of town) that takes in rescued animals and they open themselves up to the public during the summer months. They've been on the news too (my local news loves reporting on the nice stuff) and that's helped draw in more people to their haven.

People love that sort of thing where I'm from, especially if it has a local feel. And just like many wineries around here have tours, so do many organic farms (which have animals). People are so proud of nature in my community, it's one of the reasons I love living here, in Pooploops. ;)

I definitely would. I love birds. We have something similar to that where I live. It has mostly birds and it has a few other animals.

I go to Birdland whenever I'm in the Cotswolds. What makes it remarkable is that the Cotswolds is quite probably the most beautiful place anywhere on the planet. And despite all that beauty, I still see Birdland as a distraction. So, in short, yes I most certainly would visit.

  • If you had creepy birds and big monster birds and shit then yes.

There's a wildlife refuge down the street from my house. I enjoy having lots of birds nearby but I don't think I'd want them on display. Just little signs that tell me what I might see or hear.

I like your idea but honestly I would probably never go.

I would go, just for the sake that it's something to do.

I'm not the biggest animal person, but if it looked interesting enough I would probably go. But I do love your idea of taking in birds and giving them a sanctuary!

    Good luck! :)

I would love to go as long as the birds didn't go on my head. I think you should study zoology (is that what it's called?) and work in a bird sanctuary at a zoo. That should give you all the knowledge and skills necessary to open your own place.

    Good Luck:D
