Would you go out with someone with a wrong-gender-sexuality name?

Okay, the options are below. For instance, if you're a straight male, how do you feel about going on a date with a girl called Dave?

Straight male: Date is a girl called Dave
Straight female: Date is a man called Jennifer
Gay male: Date is a man called Jennifer
Gay female: Date is a girl called Dave

Yes, I would indeed 45
No, I'd rather puke molten lava 6
Some position in between the above two 15

What's in name? A rose by any other name is equally beautiful... yesit would not affect my decision to date them at all.. if it's their given name. If they "earned " the nickname somehow (depending circumstances) then it could matter.

People actually consider this when picking dates?

No, it wouldn't bother me, although I can't lie. If we ever got into a nasty enough fight, I would play the "You were born with a vagina, hence why you have a girl's name and why you're SUCH A PUSSY" card.

I probably would, yes, but I also might have to come up with a nickname for them or something... Lol.

I knew a girl named Dylan, she was fun and a generally awesome person. I'd say sure why not.

It's a weird name at first but eventually it sort of fits with her.

  • This is the greatest question anyone has asked for a while. Congratulations.

    • Why thank you very much. I asked ten questions and every single one was approved so I am already happy at my "perfect storm" but it's nice to hear people liked them too!

    • It was a hypothetical question. And my ex was female with a male name.

I would, but I would have to get around it if it was a really off-center name (like a girl named Dave/Tim/Bill or other forms of those names or other guy names...it'd be even weirder if, somehow, I met a girl with my name). There are some names like Lee or Sam or even Ashley or Lindsay that guys and girls are both named.

I have a fairly unisex name but its still an uncommon name for either sex.

I have a name that used to be only a male name but in recent times, it has become unisex. However, there are some people who still insist that I have a boy's name and that it can't be name. That aside, this wouldn't be a problem for me. It's not even something that I would consider when liking someone. Compared to some other things, names can become insignificant.

    • You've got me all curious about your name now but I'm guessing you don't want it publicly known otherwise you'd have said it. I might ask you in private some time because you and I do talk now and again. Although if you'd never tell anybody here, maybe I won't ask.

Yeah, I'd just try and work out a nickname less... masculine. For example, Dee for Dave.

not dating someone because of their looks is one thing, now their name? come on. besides, i never even referred to my last gf by her name, just pet names. months into the relationship i said her real name and it felt so weird because i had come so accustomed to calling her other names.

A girl called Dave! Haha! I'd go out with her just for her name; that's brilliant :D

I love when girls have boy names. I can't say the same for when boys have girl names.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Ok, i will admit it. In real life i have a girls name.

It is not one of those "oh well i have heard boys and girls with that same name. Its not weird at all!"

Itis a full on girls name. I am the only guy on this planet with this name. It is embarrassing. Lol but it is cool because most girls think it's cute.

That's pretty funny:D! Aww man, I wish I could be called Dave for a day. Or even just Bob or something. My name's pretty feminine. In fact, I'm pretty sure it actually means "womanly" or maybe "feminine" or something like that. Ugh! How inconvenient.:/

Hah, I meant my real name. My username is better than my boring real life name>:(. But what are you talking about?! Bananaface is the epitome of femininity.:P I mean, women always have faces, do they not? Ooh, and bananas are all curvy, just like a lot of women. Yellow too!

And I'm sure you already knew this, but bananaface is latin for "womanly shaped temple of femininity and womanliness with female people with feminine faces". And that honestly isn't bollocks at all. Genuinely! Whatever gave you the impression that bananaface wasn't a feminine name?:P

        Comment Hidden ( show )
    • Well, you are a kind of bananabobs so I guess you're sort of Bob. I'm more than happy to call you bananadave too, if you like. :P

Haha. I never thought of that when I wrote it, even though I've been a Bob all this time:O. Ha, bananadave, that's funny:D! Although, if you call me that then it means that I'm going to have to call you Jennifer for now on.:P

        • I've always really liked Jennifer as a name so I would be honoured if you called me that from now on. That's if you know who I am, of course. Which you probably do, bananadave. :P
