Would you ever do this?

Would you ever buy popcorn from a cinema without watching a movie there? Just buy the popcorn and walk out and go about your day..

What do you think? Ever done it? Would you?

I do that, nothing like cinema popcorn 5
Not strange, doesn't bother me 28

As much as I love the popcorn there, it's a waste of gas if I just came for that. Also, in theaters where I live you have to pay for a ticket before you're allowed in.

How would you do that? You need your movie ticket to go to the concession stand ..

Lmao, it would seem that way. But that sounds cool, getting snacks first and leaving... BUT ONLY IF THEY'RE CHEAP!!!

    Theater popcorn is ridiculously salty.

  • Seems pretty dumb if its priced anything like it is where I am. Here it is about 8$ for popcorn at the theater, when you can get the same thing for a dollar at the store.

That movie popcorn is too damn expensive. I dont care if it tastes good. So no I wouldn't do this.

Right and you can get the same damn candy in a store with a candy aisle. Cinemas just love to cost themselves money by charging outrageous prices and making them sneak in snacks.

You can get popcorn at my local Target that's 10x better than cinema popcorn and literally $5 cheaper.

My useless brand of curiosity has kicked in. How much is the popcorn in the theater in your area and how much is the popcorn at the Target?

No. Anyway, I always try to eat before hand. I can't eat anything there due to allergies.

Popcorn is over rated. And the theater is all about mass consumption so it is rather gross in many levels. Oh...but it tastes so good. Um, no. It really doesn't. You just forgot what real food tastes like.

    I really hate corn.

I did that once in Paris, but the popcorn there is totally different from what they have in America. You can get "sweet" popcorn or "salty." It's so fucking good.

    • That's the same as in the UK, you can get sweet or salty or even a mixture of both. I think it costs about £2.50 for the small popcorn, which isn't a lot more than from the supermarket.

It's pretty expinsive, but I once thought about that... They also give free refills!

In any cinemas I've seen in the UK you certainly don't need to pay to get in. There's a reception area where anyone can go, where you buy your tickets and popcorn and whatever at the same desk. It's nothing like you see on American films. The whole ticket office on the exterior of the building thing seems like an artificial attempt to create a sense of old-fashionedness to me - it doesn't look like it's more efficient.

Cinema popcorn is extremely expensive, so much so that I've done the exact inverse of your idea: made popcorn at home and taken it to the cinema in a tupperware container.

I'd rather buy some that's not ridiculously overpriced, but yes I have I used to go to an arcade in Luton only a few feet away from the cineworld which is in the same complex so I'd grab some with friends

It wouldnt bother me if someone did this....seems a bit expensive tho.
I mean you spend the gas to get there and then all that money on the popcorn....why not just buy a popcorn maker yourself.

Also I wouldnt do this as it seems a wast of money

I always bring my own snacks on rare occasions I go to the theater--their prices are a huge rip-off.
Anyways I can get free pop corn at a carwash near me :)

Don't you have to buy a ticket to get into the theater? That would be pretty expensive and stupid, don't ya think, if you weren't going to watch the movie? duh

    • I know you are not on dry land a lot...but no you do not buy the ticket on the door. You can go in walk around see whats on, get timetable and buy food or drink, without buying a ticket.

Not in any theater I've ever been in. I've always had to buy the ticket for a particular film at the door (multiplexes), before I was allowed inside. I guess things are a lot different where you live.

Exactly. Snacks are after the buy the ticket to get in door. Then you go to the show of your choice with the popcorn. Ceptin ifn you are at a mall with a food court before you pay to go in.

The popcorn at the cinemas is ridiculously overpriced in the area I live in($8.00 for a normal sized bag.) I can easily go to any one of the food courts inside one of the Targets in my area and get the same sized bag for $1.78.

  • You all are saying its overpriced blah blah and what about buying drinks in London or a big city on a Friday night? A cocktail can set you back £6-£10. What about cigarettes?some of you probably smoke. Surely I'm allowed cinema popcorn once in a while without getting this bashing that I'm a spendthrift.

    • You must get some badass popcorn there to be willing to spend so much on it. Where I live it is no different than the stuff at the store but costs about 10x the price for the same amount.

    • reminiscent

I dont think anyone was bashing you ...the people that posted about its cost think its pricey ...and actually it is...compared to you popping your own.
all the stuff at a theater is over priced.

If you buy the popcorn and thats what you choose to do with your money thats fine.
      also I dont smoke :P

But if I were you I would put aside all the money I would normally spend on the theater popcorn until I had enough for my own popcorn maker ...as it does Taste different then movie poocorn
this just seems more covenant to me...as now you dont have to wast gas.and can have some any time you wish. :D
