Would u get weird when i do this?

Hey ya'll.
Normally when I talk to ppl, I use word like: Bro, dude, mate, man, lad, boy, buddy, pal etc. Even when I'm talking to ppl online that I've never seen or random strangers.
I've been like this for so long that I can't even remember when I started this, and I really don't mean anything bad by it, just trying to be nice and friendly. For example: Hey, u want a beer? Sure, thx bro. And I also do this in my comments too.
But recently I got the feeling that ppl feel awkward and weird when I do this, so I haven't done it for a couple of weeks. But now I don't feel like myself anymore, and it sux.
Do u guys think this is normal? Do u feel bad when I do this?

I only feel uncomfortable when a strange man calls me sweetie, hunny, babe, baby, darling, doll, etc..., online or in person (but especially in person).

It doesn't bother me. I do it too with peers and casual acquaintances, but I wouldn't use those terms with a professor or older people or anyone who I feel I should be respectful with.

You've got nothing to worry about. Just greet people the way you feel comfortable doing, dude.

I usually say either bro or dude. I wouldn't freak out.

Totally normal, although maybe not for someone you're interested in, there was a girl who used to flirt with me a while back, then called me bro, dude etc and I took it as an attempt at showing she weren't interested, ages after she asked why I never made a move.

Dude, bro, brohan, dudette, broseph, sir, madam, gentleman, m'lady, speak how you want

In a casual conversation I think it is completely fine. However, I would never use it in a business environment unless I was joking around with a co-worker. But, it seems absolutely fine to me and I definitely wouldn't get "weirded out" by it.

I personally don't like all these acronyms and calling strangers dude or mate etc. I do feel its rude and shows a little bit of illiteracy, especially if you want clear replies in return.

That type of slang is really meant for the streets. But just my opinion, obviously 'newspeak' is the way of this present generation.

I wouldn't say it's rude or illiterate, it's just the way someone talks. It's not like someone who says "dude" can't speak in a professional manner, it's meant for more casual conversations. You seem a little old fashioned though so maybe it's a generational gap thing?

        Possibly.
I think I have the view that at ALL times you should try to show yourself at (or close to) your best, unless in a very casual relaxed situation.
On places like a forum that is completely about English text and others replying to that text, I feel it (slang) is just not good.
I agree in casual conversation its ok, not online where people can form bad opinions.

A lot of people at my work talk like that and I don't find it offensive at all but for some reason, a guy calling me 'mate', as eastbeast has said, really irritates me.

If you called me 'pal', I would be okay with that, it seems more respectful than 'mate'. All your words seem perfectly fine :)

What I find disrespectful is when younger people say to me, 'What's up?' or 'what's good?' or variations like that. I have no idea how to respond to those sorts of questions.

Every time someone calls me 'mate' I want to say 'Don't call me mate, I don't know you, you are not my 'mate'.
