Would a japanese steakhouse be too much for a first date?

So a friend I've known for about 2-3 years on PS3 has come here to America from the Bahamas. Hes in a city to attend a technichal school for about a year. He has a house to himself that his parents bought since they come to America every year for vacation. While at the school he met a chick. They've known each other for like a week...her friend told him that she likes him. Now they have a date. He said she said she likes Japanese food, he does too, and he said hes never been to a Japanese Steakhouse. So I suggested he takes her to one. But now that I thought about it, a Japanese Steakhouse isnt really your average casual restaurant. $20-30 per person (at least everytime I go) even if you get the cheaper options. It just seems like..it'd come off as trying to make a big impression, or she might think hes a really rich guy. It just seems like it might be a bit too much..not sure if I should tell him this or not though. What do you guys think?

I think you should let them worry about it. Suggest a few different places to your friend, but let him make up his own mind. It's his date, after all.

Personally, as long as I'm fed then I'm happy.

I'm sure they'll be fine with it as long as there's good food.
