Women, how do you decide to purchase clothes or not?

If you can afford to buy and throw away $70 jeans for such an idiotic reason, why is $150 for an hour with a stylist out of your budget or level of intellect used for decision making?

I don't think I've paid $70 for one single piece of clothing in my life.

It's what the mirrors are there for.

Buying clothes shouldn't be this hard, and instead of throwing new clothes away just donate them.

Take heart, 99% plebian, you are playing the appearance game completely wrong. Here are the clothing game rules.

1. Wear cheap shitty clothes that are comfortable around the house. Crap from Walmart is fine.

2. Have one or two expensive outfits that are made to last. You will look smarter in a well made outfit that is slightly worn, than shit clothes that are brand new.

3. To present yourself decently at the country club, wear an intermediate quality shirt that has been starched at the cleaners. Don't waste your own time ironing. Let Asian illegal immigrants do it.

4. Hair speaks volumes. Use expensive conditioner for job interviews and work environments.

5. Stop wasting your money. If you are into humblebrag, humblebrag about the return on your investments. (Beating the market, etc.) You will also save money by driving a dependable car, like a Honda Civic that is built to last 225,000 miles. Park it in the back of the car park and nobody will notice. I have a Toyota pickup that I use when I want to deflect attention.

I usually ask myself like
- do i really need it?
- can i use this money for something better?
- do i have anything to go with it?
- do i have a similar one?

That's why I have a hot older sister to help me clothes shop. Or, if I'm lucky..She just goes for me. When I go with her, though, I always pay for lunch or dinner, and, tell her pick up whatever she wants, and I pay for it. Handbag, skirt, and, twice, a tiny bikini only I see her in. I do wear what she tells me to buy and looks good on me, giving her a sense of "I did that".

I only buy what I need. Maybe twice a year I'll buy one or two pairs of cargo pants and a pack of black t-shirts for work. Almost all of my other clothes are hand-me-downs and that's ok with me. I don't get to dress up or wear non-work clothes that often, so I only buy essentials. And I give no fucks whatsoever as to what others think of my wardrobe.

What? Why are people saying this is normal?
I don't think I spend even 70$ on clothes for an entire year. If you are really that desperate for an opinion just ask some random people at the store about what they think of it. Also follow Tealights advice, if you can afford 70$ on clothes you can afford to donate them too.

While this is pure speculation, I think you are too conscious of what other people see. For one you bought shorts for 70$, and you started to hate them because some random dude said the pockets were bad. Just cut them and sow them back if you care so much about it.
