Will today's tattoos still be cool in 25 years time? iin?

I was at the beach yesterday and noticed probably 90% of young females had massive leg or arm tattoos (or both).

Also had a bearded, spectacled, check shirt wearing hipster walk by my home with the sleeve on his heavily tattooed right arm rolled all the way up (but the untattooed left arm sleeve was not rolled up).

Now, don't get me wrong, tatts can look really great on some people, but I wonder for how long?

They might look bitchin' now, but how are they going to look in 5, 10 or 25 years time?

That's right. they will look like SHIT.

No they will look like SHIT 17
No, they will be faded, fuzzy and still look like SHIT 7
No, surgeons will develop new ways of removing SHIT tatoos 3
Yes, in 2040 hipsters will still be flaunting the same SHIT tattoos 8
Yes, they will still be cool 12
Other 6

I somewhat agree. When I was much, much, much younger (think mid-highschool), I really wanted to get a few tatoos, but I decided to wait about a year, have a think, and I'm quite glad I did, because my tat choice then would have been totally embarrassing to me as an adult.

Having said that, I think you change as a person so very much during your adolescence and early 20's. My priorities and interests and thoughts are completely different. If I decided to get a tatoo now, I'd feel much more comfortable with the idea. I feel as if I know myself as a person more; I feel less fickle and more settled. I still wouldn't do it on a whim.

My boyfriend wants to get himself a sleeve, and it doesn't worry me...it's kind of a turn on! At his age, I think he won't get anything stupid, or impulsive, or trendy, or teenagery, so I'm down with it...I think it's sexy.

That has crossed my mind, once the tattoos are faded and their skin is sagging some of the bigger tattoos must end up looking shit

It'll get to a point 40 years down the line 80 percent of care homes will have saggy warped hollow black stars on their wrist

The last bitch I dated, liked to get choked while fucked had a forearm tattoo relatively large. One day we were job searching and the ad said "no visible tattoos" I then said "told you so" she was 22 smh

How so? I thought it only applied to those that were "born" a certain way or Cripple or born black but not those that willing fully mark themselves.

Well, I think the ad ment it must be covered or some shit it's not like you should have to hire a lifeguard at a YMCA making sure little kids don't drown sporting a pornographic tattoo. If they are forced to hire them then they have no choice in whether to hire or not based on the tattoo alone.

Nah, you can't discriminate against appearance.
If you could prove that you weren't hired because you had a tattoo that the employer didn't like, you could sue and would likely win.
There might be laws protecting employers who won't hire someone with say a nazi sign because it's criminally affiliated, but if it's a like a giant flower or something, the only thing that's within their rights is to -ask- you to cover it up.
The only reason nobody really knows this is because it isn't something that's fought in court often. Most people don't have noticeable tattoos and those who do are looked at like criminals, so nobody cares about standing up for their rights. The truth is, it's just as illegal as not hiring someone because they wear a cross.

Well, although I would highly disagree with that law I don't believe it's currently illegal to not hire somebody based on a facial tattoo. I don't know the law but I did briefly look st some arguments on the internet just now. If what you say if true then a swastikas on someone's forehead is fair game, literally. Or lets say, wearing a long sleeve shirt to a job interview and when fully established in the company with benefits after 6 months or so wear short sleeve and Sport that Swastika in a blaze of glory... If it is illegal to not hire a person because they have a tattoo then nobody gets to cherry pick whats an acceptable tattoo when hiring because that would be discrimination under the bullshit equality laws. IMO

Since very few look 'cool' now, what makes you think they will look 'cool' on pale, old, wrinkly skin?

    • I didn't state that I think they will look cool on pale, old, wrinkly skin (or any skin color for that matter)

My question is: will they still look cool in 25 years?

Or will they look like SHIT?

    Probably.

My body is covered in huge scars from accidents, rough jobs (mechanic), and a few years of playing the arm violin and wallowing in my own self-pity. My tattoo on my wrist covers the ones that look particularly red-flaggish. Honestly, if I only tattoed my scars, I'd have them up and down my arms and my right leg and both calves. And my hands. It's fucked anyway, might as well.

    • You are stating the obvious that getting tattoos are impulse. That wasn't the question.

The question is: will they still look cool in 25 years?

Or will they look like SHIT?

        • I think they will give a shit.

Which is not to say you (or anyone) shouldn't get them.

Cover your whole body and face with tramp stamps for all I care.

I guarantee you will care what they look like in 5 years or 25 years.
