Will i become this lame when/if i become a father?
In the ending for Black Ops 2 when you keep Mason alive by shooting his legs, Mason tells his son that "He made him proud" when he continued to climb harrowing trees when he fell down. This is an example of a popular movie cliche.
This "You made me proud son" phrase/cliche is good for movies because it's melodramatic and expository. Do dads actually say this in real life?
Unfortunately, my answer is "Yes in one very isolated case."
My dad constantly tells me he is proud of me for the most inane crap. He tells me he's proud of me for learning manual, for hanging out for him and his friends, and he even said once following a day of back-breaking housework "It actually gives me a great deal of pleasure to work with you two, it's a dream I've had ever since you were babies."

What kind of a corny, gay, incest rape thing to say is that? My mum has never told me she is proud of me. I have zero problem with that. Why? BECAUSE IT'S A SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE THING TO SAY PERIOD. There isn't even a response to it. An awkward silence has followed every time my dad has said it (It's worth adding my dad is an intellectually and mentally irregular alcoholic) Just keep it to your fucking self!
Am I right? Have your parents ever been this uncool?
