Why should everything revolve around money?

It's a cultural thing.

We often assume there is a correlation between the monetary value of a person, and their value to society; their human value. Sometimes it's a fair assumption, other times it's not.

I'm sure everybody would agree that it's healthy to keep things in perspective; if you're well fed, well watered, have shelter and a stable income, you're doing OK. But our economies thrive on greed and feelings of inadequacy, they rely on people striving for greater material wealth, greater comfort, greater luxury. It's a reflection of human nature to want what your neighbour's got, or more.

So I understand how you feel.

I might go further than that. Firstly, money isn't even necessary to survive. It's only in our society that we feel it is, and even then it's possible to opt out and become self-sufficient. And really, surviving shouldn't be the aim so much as having a meaningful existence. Even if opting out of capitalism means living a short, impoverished life, your existence is far more meaningful because you have truly committed to your values. Secondly, far from bragging about having money, I think that reliance on our capitalist system which is (ultimately) nothing but imaginary, is something that should be considered a personal disadvantage. The life of a capitalist loses all it's meaning when taken out of a capitalist context.

As a medium of exchange, society would collapse without it. It's far more efficient than a barter economy.

In my high school econ class I kept just asking the teacher "Why don't we just burn all the money and start over if it doesn't mean anything??" and he just laughed because he thought I was joking but I really wasn't... I just don't get it. You gotta just do what you can to survive with the system I guess.

I think most people have shit. Even the constipated. They just find it harder.

Funny to think that most of this wealth and $ doesn't actually exist. Its all just a numbers In a computer server. I'd like to see what the feds do if a multi millionaire somewhere wanted to exchange all his paper for metal. I bet they'd refuse or delay because they don't have it. That's why they offer a .9% slope on bearer bonds rather than gold. Because they know if everyone wanted gold, the entire us economy would collapse

That's one of the major problems with humanity. Along with religion, borders, and a complete lack of a central world government... and top 40 radio Lol. Its one big step toward the utopia this earth could be. No war. No famine. No homeless children. Problems that seem insurmountable actually aren't. We spend like trillions of dollars a year on war and it would take less than a billion to completely end world hunger. It has no profit in it, which is why it hasn't been done. We spend our lives toiling away nose to the grindstone for that next paycheck. And its hilarious to think that with how much debt our country is in and how much cash currency is in circulation, there is nnnnooo way ft knox and the federal reserve will be able to cover even 1/3 of it all. Why do u think they won't let anyone in there? Because it all has "PRC" stamped on em.

It's easy to get caught up in the rat race of money & in that way how important it is to you depends on who you surround yourself with.
Greed is an addiction. The more money you have the more you want. For many there's no "satisfaction" once a magic number is reached.

I value money, to be fair probably too much, but certainly don't judge peoples value by how much of it they have.

Some of the people I've met who I respect most are starving musicians or the like...

When it goes as far as buying pollution credits that allow the mega-companies to destroy the planet just to make more money, it is apparent the system is way past broken.
I just don't understand that mentality; the grand children of the UHNWI and HNWI will have to live on the very same polluted, dying planet as everybody else.

I wholeheartedly agree with your post! We have been fooled into believe that it's money that we really want. What we really SHOULD want is what we are going to have in our future, once this world fully cleans up the mess of these pointless wars, stupid control of politics and government. In a society like in Atlantis or ancient Egypt, where there was no money or where there exists no political agenda and no entity that is all powerful and controls virtually the whole planet, is our destiny as a planet. THIS is what the Dec 2012 Mayan prophecy was all about! A golden age of enlightenment. The great pyramid in Egypt, what we're not taught is that there was a detailed timeline. It was correct, it had things like 9/11 accurately predicted, WW1 & WW2 was also there. Dec 2012 was the biggest, most important time. And if you look around, the illuminati's pieces are crumbling. Can you believe the Rockefellars are giving up their oil cash cow when they finagled their way into making it triple the previous price? John Kerry was laughed at in front of the senate and entire world on TV when he was trying to get a war on ISIS. Many people are resigning their positions around the world, the roman catholic church is on its knees. Just keep in mind none of this will be on network television bcuz the illuminati controls that still.

In the great pyramid of Giza, the next important year was 2030. By then, apparently, all this garbage will be cleaned up and we WILL see the true beauty of what it is to be human! If you're iffy about this notion or just don't know what to think about it, if it could be true, just ask yourself before you go to sleep, what's true. Just like when you tell yourself you have to be up by 8am and you DO wake up. You have the power to do this for anything else too, including this. Ask yourself your destiny, ask yourself what's going on for this planet, and appreciate the beauty of nature, of birds flying overhead, notice the sun's white color (used to be yellow before 2012) and love the earth and be happy we've paid our dues in the suffering thus far in our lives!

I say BULLSHIT money is a lie and we should have learned that forever ago! Barter is no better because as long as there exist ANY form of exchange there will ALLWAYS be the haves and the have nots! If everything was FREE think of what would happen! Freedom would happen! Almost ALL crime would disappear overnight! This world would move from one of competition to one of cooperation! NO MORE WARS because we help each other instead! WE would retool the industrial military complex to make plenty of EVERYTHING for EVERYONE! WE would unshelf the hidden advances in all areas! Makes EVERYTHING to last instead of making it so you will need another one just before that one is paid for. WE grow enough food to feed 12 billion so why when there are only 7 billions of us will a third of them go hungry tonight? WE have 4.3 empty homes here in the US for every homeless person so why do we let banksters keep them empty! ALL of this worlds resources belong to EVERYONE on this world not to corporations or powerful families! It's time to take it ALL back and do what right! Banks, insurance, wall street, investors, accountants, soldiers, and the list goes on and on you ALL free! With technology, automation, and the sharing of ideas soon almost NOBODY will need to work at all! Together we would find answers to all of our issues and fix them for the good of all!
