Why is there life?

Okay, so, we're born, we age, we give a child, we die. We born we age we die. We born we age we die. It repeats itself over and over again. why are you born if you're just going to die anyway? So you can do some cool stuff before you die, or, what? I mean, it's kind of pointless when you think about it. Why do we give birth when we and them are just going to die anyway? Why do we keep the human race (as an example) alive by keep giving birth when we all are just going to die, anyways? It's stupid. And why do people always say, "I'm too young to die!" and stuff like that? You're going to die eventually, so what does it matter? what to do some fun things before you die or something? Grow up. Why if there life if they're just going to die anyway? It's stupid when you think about it. But am I normal to think this way?

    This is why I'm Christian.

I do realize a lot of Christianity is illogical and hard to defend. But if there were no religion, there is no afterlife, and no reason to exist. It would make no difference if I were to become rich and famous or to shoot myself right here and now. My mind literally could not handle Atheism.

Religion gives me hope. Even if it's false hope, it still gives me a reason to live.

    • Atheists can "handle" their beliefs because they are too distracted by the mundane affairs of life to seriously think about them.

Study philosophy and religion (all religions). You'll get a good idea of what the greats thought about that very question. And don't jump to conclusions quickly or get attached to one religion. Study them ALL

I believe in the big bang theory but i dont get how it happened. How can everything exist from NOTHING. Also, have you ever thought of what it was like before the big bang or if it never happened? Its scary to think of what ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is, no sight, no sound, no feeling, no taste or smell...

  • You are absolutely right, it is pointless, if we simply cease to exist someday. We do not live on through our children, or our accomplishments. When you die, your consciousness is no more, and it will not matter to you if the world prospers or burns beyond your own passing. Love, ambition, morality....everything is meaningless without life. Anyone who says differently is fooling themselves, distracting themselves from contemplating their fate. But, is death really the end?

Because we care about future generations yet unborn. If we don't have children, our children's children won't get a chance to exist.

Don't be an ass. I'm pretty sure you'd beg for your life if it came to it. "Grow up"? Oh please.

It's not pointless, but more pointful. Bacteria live to replicate and we do the same very well. We live to reproduce and pass genes on to offspring. Call it an experience that can never be repeated. Life is exquisite.

The meaning of life is to have such a great time that you literally DIE from living.

  • I personally find a lot of comfort in genetics and philosophy... Not that I know much about either, I'm just 16, but still :P

  • There may or may not be a point to life. The fact remains that we are biologically engineered to stay alive and keep our race going as long as we can.

Everybody has different view's on life, and I think it depend's whether they believe in some sort of after life or not. I'm catholic, and believe in heaven after. And this might sound a little strange, but I look at it this way, life is like a stepping stone, and we are all just here in preparation for the real happiness, which I believe comes after death: Heaven.

I know many people might disagree, and I'm not bashing anyone's opinions. This is just my thought's. I feel like it's almost like dieing is graduation. You graduate from high school, and go to college. You go through all the up's and down's of life, and graduate to Heaven. Boom! Just like that.

It make's me kinda think that death is like, a privilege. Which also, make's me think of that saying that, "only the good die young".

well, you're not even real. so why DOES it matter In the long run if you live or die? scientifically or religiously, no one knows what was the very first thing
god: made everything, who made him? & who made that guy, & that guy. nothing can just 'appear'
but then again there couldnt have just been nothing to begin with cause nothingness is STILL something.

scientifically: big bang all this shish. we evolved from water to animals to humans, all fine and dandy. but what made space? it can't just BE THERE. lifes so depressing.

no wonder great minds kill themselves.

  • Life has no meaning, only artificial intelligence is truly important on a cosmic scale.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • You are plenty normal to think that way. I myself used to think that way, and it surpassed. We reproduce to keep the cycle going and that's that. How would you feel knowing after you die there will be no others? If we don't produce, there will be no happiness or sadness, no love no hate, no joy no fear after the last death of the last person.

And that will mean no humans. No humans means no war, pollution, animal abuse, and the whole nine yards. Sounds pretty friggin good to me.
