Why is there a stigma against furries?

I had never heard of a furry until people starting asking me if I was a furry so I looked it up and its not quite what I do but has some similarities. I don't wear the masks but I do wear the ears and sometimes a tail, paw gloves and face paint. Wearing animal costumes isn't the only thing I do either. I also mix in superhero features, steam punk, cyborg and whatever else I feel like dressing as (police officer, punk rock style, pimp suits, glue crab claws to my fingers, etc.) I will often mix up the themes together into bizarre outfits. Anyways since hearing about furries I have not quite understood why most the references towards them is negative. That said I have no desire to have sex with someone dressed like a mascot for a baseball team but I do enjoy a hot girl in a sexy costume.
I wear my unusual outfits to express myself. I loved Halloween as a kid and there is no reason I shouldn't be able to dress like that whenever the fuck I want. I have fun doing it and don't really care if people judge and actually most people like my outfits. I am also in the entertainment business and it expresses my eccentric personality.

I don't know. I don't understand it either. Maybe you're onto something with the bestiality thing, though.

I thought being a furry was having a persona which was anamorphic, and somewhat believing you are that persona more than who you are in real life, much like a transsexual treating themselves as a different gender.

  • I just noticed this is blocked on safe mode. I didn't even think this post was inappropriate. From what I've read about furries most of them are doing it because they feel in touch with being an animal more than a human although some of them do it as a fetish.
I don't see what is sexually appealing about dressing like a mascot, but I do like girls in sexier costumes without the mask and suit (such as neko girls)
I wouldn't label myself as a furry but I do have "furry traits". I got into it because I wear costumes being in the entertainment biz and just kept doing it for fun and come to find people are associating it with beastiality which I find ridiculous.

Since 90 percent of the furries online are pedophiles. As well as that in some places fucking a dog is illegal so to want that disturbs people. Personally I do not agree with having sex with animals since they can not consent. If they can not consent its rape.

Simply dressing up like sonic the hedgehog and pretending your beating up bad guy I think would fall more under Cosplay though even though he is technically a furry. I don't think people have an issue with dressing like a big animal. Well maybe those afraid of mascots but thats not based on the fact you are furry but another phobia.

I mean look of "Barney" everyone loves him. However fucking animals and scouting for children on the internet is not something I think people enjoy. I also been in a lot of chat-rooms so you learn DON'T TALK TO THE FURRY. Furry on the internet seems to signal rapist, Furry in real life generally means "Sex with animals". However I don't think people are bothered by a bunch of random idiots running around dressed like sonic and tails.

As well as now we added a new brand of furries to the mix. Those are the cloppers. If you ever stumbled across clopper porn you know how fucked up it is. Cloppers like watching ponys the age of little girls raping, eating, killing and sleeping with each other. That would also fall under animal abuse. Which killing animals is often the sign of a serial killer.

So when so many of them show signs of such perverse nature and violent tendencies do you really have to ask WHY people do not like furries? When people are doing shit this fucked up PEOPLE TEND TO NOTICE!

      • I think it's sad that some people ruin things that should be innocent fun by making it into something fucked up.

I started dressing like animals before I even knew what a furry was. To me it's not a perversion but more something for fun.

I decided to go to a furry convention this weekend to see what it was actually all about and I will say I did see some weird stuff and extreme homosexual behavior, not that I am against gays, but there were people dressed in bdsm outfits walking through the halls and having gay sex in the public bathroom. It was in the Hilton motel which I found amusing because this stuff was going on where rich people stayed and I even saw one man yelling at the staff for not telling him this was going on before he made reservations, which was actually hilarious.

Anyways I will say not all of them were like this. There were lots of people who were doing it just for fun and lot's of them were entertainers or people who just liked to dress up and party as well as people who feel more in touch with animals than they do humans so they dress as them.

I have concluded that people dress as furries for several different reasons and only a portion of them are perverts.

Alright if you just dress like an animal for fun most people would not consider you a furry just weird. Furry actually means people who dress in mascot outfits and have sex with each other, have sex with animals and have perverted pictures online of huminiod versions of foxes and wolves screwing each other.

I don't think you really fall under the category of furry or what most consider a FURRY. Just a very weird dude/gal who likes to play dress up.I don't think people don't generally seem to have an issue against what you are doing. However I would say if you really want to be more accepted help get rid of the fucking cloppers, and pedophiles. You would do a lot of good if you helped the cause.

Like I said if a bunch of random idiots run around dressed like sonic and tales NO ONE IS GOING TO CARE. They might think its odd, a little funny might even ask for a picture but they will not care. In fact animal wear is very popular in recent years as you see everyone wearing fuax fox tales and hands with little ears.

I don't think you are what represents the furry community. If you want to run around dressed as a wolf do what you like. Just do not get arrested for disturbing the piece or anything.

When people say they hate furrys I doubt they are talking about you. They are probobly talking about the mascot fuckers, animal fuckers, pedophiles and cloppers. Though I am probobly sure most of the clopper fandom would fall under the pedophile category.

I'm no furry, but I definitely have nothing against it. People indeed tend to associate it with bestiality and mental illness. It's yet another case of people blindly hating that which they don't understand and looking down on anyone who's into it. The hate for the MLP fandom isn't helping furries much either.

I think there would be less hate if MLP got rid of the cloppers. Ponys raping and eating each other. For fuck sake.
