Why is it normal for people to tell you to get over something

I feel like people go through breaks up, and get annoyed over that person holding on. I'm going through one, which had no real closure, and it hurts really bad. I remember my friends going through stuff, and they cried for me to sympathise with them or give them advice. Now they're hardly understanding of what I feel. I just want someone to care like I do. Saying get over it is easy when its not their own feelings.

If you live ion the past you can't live in the present and may have no future. Move on. And you can tell [people your woes just don't expect good advice or a cure.

Why do people tell others to get over it? Well, because wallowing in self-pity has no upside. The longer you dwell there, the more you're wasting your own life. It's really the kindest way to deal with someone that's in "despair".

So, get over it already and move on.

    • Thanks. I feel okay but not 100 percent.

Keep working on it. Just take those bad feelings and push them down, way, way, down.

        Or self-medicate!

Or, lose yourself in a string of meaningless intimate encounters, that's a good one too.
