This show is very popular and the only thing that could probobly compete with MLP. However why is it popular? Its random, stupid and the character designs are very simplistic even for a cartoon. So what is so great about this show? Not that I actually hate this show but people age 3-50 are watching. You have to wonder how it attracts so many people.

Because people go into it having really low expectations, since it's a kid shows, but you're shocked but how deep the story is. Did you know that it's set in a post apocalyptic world? The characters are surprisingly deep and adults can pick up on that. Try listening to some of what Jake says whenever he is trying to give Finn advice. It's excellent for kids, and everyone else really, because it is colorful and lighthearted (most of the time). But underneath all the sugar coated silliness is a legit story with powerful emotions, usually they're the Marceline based episodes. Also if Simon Petrikov is ever involved then get ready for a feel trip.
I already watch this show. Please don't preach to to Choir. I did not have an answer though. I seen every episode ever aired.

Alright I reread your story; a bad assumption on my part. Your tone does sound angry though. Regardless I gave you an answer as what I believe, if you don't like it, well, that's just on you.
Not angry. I simply made this post without bias. I know everything that can be insulted or complimented about the show. I know its random and its stupid. Despite that fact I still watch I think that randomness is what makes it so grand. I wanted an educated answer not just "ADVENTURE TIMES FUN WHOOPEE!" I want to know why its popular not how many people like it.
Doubt it's nostalgia. I mean, the show only came out a few years back. But I hate that show. Never understood why so many people love it.
i only saw a portion of one episode...an angry wolf was trying to steal hugs, the victims had to steal hugs too...it was very funny
It's because of the deep plot behind the stupid shell. Or am I thinking too highly of people..?
I think Adventure Time is really popular because it's got a little bit of everything in it: action, fantasy, comedy, romance and even, oh my glob, drama bombs! I also think that the simplistic art style is visually appealing to some people because it can be construed as cute. It also appeals to a wide demographic because of the characters. The two male leads are funny, kind and sensitive n addition to being able to kick ass, and the female characters are more complex than your average Disney princess, and a fair bit darker in personality too.
this show made me laugh the first time I saw it and i've never missed an episode since then
I try to only watch the episodes that have Marceline in them.. everything else I feel like Im losing braincells.. But I keep coming back cause AT's soundtrack is awwesomee x)
Annnd to simply put it, theres a storyline behind all the "baby talk".
it's funny and silly. And it surprises you here and there with almost adult jokes and innuendos that kids might not pick up on.
I don't watch it. When it comes to Cartoon Network, I only watch the Toonami line-up.
How can you stand the new toonami? Who starts a line up at midnight? That set up is asinine. I miss when they had it at 8.
To be honest, I don't view everything. I flip through channels whenever a few particular shows are broadcasted, although I always view Soul Eater, IGPX, and Cowboy Bebop. There has been two occasions where I stayed up until 6am (worth it), but I always pre-set my recordings on the digital video recorder as a form of insurance to be able to watch those shows in the morning (if I fall asleep).
It used to start from 7pm and end at midnight. Toonami isn't well funded; we've got to be grateful for what they've given us. For example, I've heard great critique about Fooley Cooley and it's set to premiere tomorrow. Adult Swim is more problematic compared to Toonami, even though Toonami is a sub-department of theirs.
Popular or not that is a terrible time slot. I mean if someone is not willing to stay up till 6 in the morning they probobly are not going to watch it. That also means the people they are catching are people who randomly come home in the middle of the night and decide "Lets watch tv".
