Why fire a good worker and now you have to pay for two people .?

Why would you sack a guy who did a fantastic job as a theatre cleaner and replace him with two people who cannot do the job as good as the single guy.Who had been there for almost 3 years kept his nose clean looked out for patients safety and never left his area unfinished did a great job told by doctors and nurses.Weather he did three theatres a rest room and store room and had time to help his fellow workers.He worked with a polish guy on ctu and there they had 6 theatres to clean a store room and recovery area and toilets did in under 4 hours .
When the newbies come in to this sector they do not stay long when they see what has to be done 1/2 weeks tops and they are gone .
