People don't like metal because one day they were flipping through channels and came upon Headbanger's Ball on MTV by some odd fluke and watched a Slayer music video for five seconds and right then and there were so completely terrified that their brains exploded. The ones you see posting on this website are the ones that survived and made it through months of corrective surgery and rehabilitation. Unfortunately, they lose most of their problem solving skills and common sense.

I'm a die hard metal fan and it really annoys me when people diss on it! Don't they realise just how difficult it is and how much talent it takes to play? It's pretty sad how so many people just hate it without even giving it a chance.

Normal. The kids that "diss" other types of music are just ignorant. Actuly alot of rapper type music is inspired not only by everyday life problems, but the musicle legends they grew up to lisn too (pop,rock,techno etc). Most the insparation comes from clasicle arts of the 1700's. For most genras of music today. Kids are just too ignorant to realise it. So they find it natural to insult what they dont understand.

At their core - most metalheads are geeky kids who cling to this thing for a sense of identity. Some metal music is ok. But its funny when people act all tough and you listen to some of these bands and their ridiculous; the music is lame and the band is a joke. Whatever, people like what they like, but why do metal people get so fucking weird about it?? Even amongst each other - arguing about what constitues metal, trying so hard to outdo each other about who is more metal. Its pathetic!! Geeks.

Rap is so ubiquitous and in your face wherever you go; being frustrated with that is understandable. I like some rap, but it still drives me nuts that people tend to play nothing BUT rap. What happened to the Metal, man? The hard rock? The Roots of it all; the Blues and the Mud and the Mississippi Delta where the upright electric guitar and the overdriven amp first came to prominence?

Metal isn't mainstream anymore unless you're in Scandinavia, but it's not a dying breed. Never fear.

i listen to death metal and black metal and those kind of people really don't annoy me at all. it's understandable that many people wouldn't enjoy such brutal genres. the people who anger me more are the faggots who listen to metalcore and screamo and think that its heavy and can themselves "harcore" and shit

I totally agree, but what I hate more is that when the word rock is mentioned, most people automatically assume rock means screamo and won't believe you if you try to convince them otherwise. I myself am a metalhead (\m/) and am not afraid to tell people that I like metal. My advice to you is forget about those ignorant people and keep rocking?

Well i think metal is underated. Barely anyone listens to metal anymore now. I think they got rid of headbangers ball on mtv. The closest thing ive seen on tv thats near metal was Slipknot psychosocial. But now hermaprhodite gaga and katie perry are taking over music. It saddens me what this world now listens to. And worst of all I was doing a project at school and we had to do some project about to holocaust and we needed music i suggested Slayer - Angel of death and the people in my group were like "Whos Slayer...?

Different genres appeal to different people, and there will always be disagreements, but dissing another genre just because you don't like it in your divine opinion is just ignorant. There will always be those annoying kids who do it, but hey. Just shrug it off, it is what it is.

I think it just depends on where you are. Here, in Chicago, people are either into the mainstream teeny-bopper shit or alternative stuff. Creed and Pearl Jam and Staind are huge here. But I moved here from California, and, there, it was sooo much worse. On the radio, there was either Mexican music or more of the teeny-bopper shit.

Listen to what you want to listen to. If you like it, you like it. That's, essentially, what metal is about, right??

Who cares what others like? As long as it sounds good, feels good, and is good for you it doesn't matter what "they" think.
