Why don't they do volunteer work?

I notice the majority of people doing volunteer work are either retired or still working. In other words... Not unemployed. Why don't you volunteer while you're out of a job it's better than doing nothing and helping others makes you more confident. Welfare people this means you too. Is it normal I think people should volunteer if they are either out of work or getting assistance? Giving back isn't outdated is it?

    Volunteering means you have to go to a certain location to help out.

    If you have no job, you'll eventually run out of gas money.

    Try living on a couch and not eating for a day and a half and at 7AM I'll wake you up and ask you to come volunteer with me even though you haven't had a shower in days and you have to walk there cus you can't afford to put the gas in your car, oh and it's 98F outside with full sun.

    I feel great about my life, I've done volunteer work before, and I could really give a damn cus I don't go to the government or any charities for support, when I'm hungry I'm just hungry, when I need a place to sleep I'll pitch a tent, I'm not weak or helpless, so you got the wrong guy if you want me to feel sorry for people.

        What? Volunteering is just another consumer friendly way to get off. Go give poor people some cans of spaghettiO's for a few hours so you can dump your ego load on your friends while doing nothing to fix the actual problem.

        I help friends and family and strangers that need it enough to ask, if everyone were like that instead of supporting a disgusting for profit industry maybe we'd fucking get somewhere.
