Why don't doctors ever look into ocd? iin?

Does OCD not get doctors money? Therapist seem to push for certien illnesses when evaluating patients but completely ignore others. Like they will push for ADD and Schizophrenia but no one ever think about OCD and things like that. Does ADD and Schizophrenia make doctors more money?

  • I have been diagnosed with bipolar with psychotic tendencies. I once threatened my boss at a job site with a bbq knife.

  • Most Doctors are simply pill pushers for pharmaceuticals, others are butchers.

They're goal isn't really to heal people and it wasn't only until recently that their training included the subject of human health.

The pills they sell you mask the symptoms and not heal. This is to get you hooked on them for life so big pharma and the Doctors can stay wealthy.

Keep in mind there are stigmas in society and I think it plays a role into what ur talking about. Like they may be quick to call someone Schizophrenic or attention deficit disorder just cause they really dont empathize with people (especially doctors). It is also b/c they dont really like to admit they dont know something and will tell some1 they have a certain mental illness if they are experiencing something they cant explain. Part of that comes from arrogance. The best thing to do is know your mind/body and use your own judgement about what others are telling you and find professionals that truely understand and connect with you.

I was told I had OCD before I was told I had schizophrenia. It was a quite bizarre experience. I think that they push for what they see fit, or the most profitable. Depends on who you see.. Apologies if I'm not answering your question properly.

    • I thought it was just OCD? Do you mean types? Like compulsive counting, compulsive cleanliness? I thought OCD could be a combination of any of these. Also real or not why do they ONLY push ADD/ADHD and Schizophrenia?

Personly, I have OCD and although it can be really annoying when it gets bad, it doesn't affect my life or the people around me too much (besides maybe making people annoyed when I move their stuff around).
A lot of the bigger problems are in need or more attention, and so doctors probably don't want to waste time with smaller things like OCD (in some cases it can be life consuming, in which case a doctor should help you, but a lot of the time it's just annoying) while there are people with bigger problems that affect them and the people around them so much that it can't be ignored.
There would be some doctors that do just want to make money and big disorders take lots of time (and therefor, money) to fix, so they would prefer people with big time disorders, but for the most part, I'd say it's simply priorities.

I've never had a doctor "push" me towards a diagnosis. When I was tested for ADD it was only because I needed confirmation for what I already suspected.
