Why does the world celebrate prostitutes instead of women who really work?

I'm just curious to know as to why the world is celebrating prostitutes like Kim Kardashian and in general women who show off their naked bodies for money (i call that prostitution). Today those women are revered and celebrated and shown as "empowered" women.

But what about the cleaning lady who wakes up at 4 am to do a miserable job to feed her kids? What about the hispanic woman that works in the kitchen of Applebee's and is paid basically nothing? Why aren't these women celebrated? And shown as empowered since they won't give up their dignities for more money?

I just feel like only sex sells when it comes to women nowadays, and not only that is true, but they are also celebrated for it while frankly, it's a shame and it doesn't promote equality at all.

Thoughts?

Well I just think of it like this-

Keep the people stupid and afraid and they will do whatever you want.
The media doesn't want to promote or empower the working woman because that's not the image they want people to emulate.

You're right. My mundane crap job should be something everyone wants to read about. My average looks should be plastered all over the internet. People magazine should do a write up on me watching sportscenter in my undies and eating some crap I threw together for dinner. Fashion magazine should right about the new pair of dickies I picked up at Walmart and all the guys should start wearing them because I do. My $8 barbershop haircut should become all the rage among teens everywhere.

My life is so interesting I just can't understand why I am not revered.

    • Well if you really do all this then yes, you're a sleazebag. I'm talking about people who actually TRY to get better lives, not you. You sound incredibly sleazy and if you'd die in front of your sports game i'm sure i wouldn't care.

If my minimum wage mother would though, that would be a shame.

It's not about interest, it's about merit. Congratulations, you just miss the WHOLE ENTIRE point.

Only people with no real interests care about trash tv personalities that much, it sounds like you have a warped system of judging people based on how much you believe they're worth. Why does popping out kids and then whining that you have to wake up earlier to feed them with your minimum wage job make your life worth more than somebody who wears jeans and watches sports? You have issues.

        • Those trash tv personalities make more money than those with honest jobs, and people should be ashamed of that and fight against that but obviously as long as the sheeple got their beers nothing is new under the sun

Many people make lots of money doing non-jobs being on TV. Blame the idiots who think it's real. I can't say I believe having an "honest job" and children you can barely feed makes you a more moral person than a single person drinking a beer not having kids or a job.

            • I'm talking about women making whorish jobs for a living, that's what the whole post was about, I don't even know if you've read it as you just seem to jump to conclusions. I don't think that's normal and that's a shame. If that's how it goes then tell me why do we all still bother, huh? That shit ain't right, and at least I would have stood against it.
