Why do you need morals?

I don't think I have morals. My family seem to be disturbed by my jokes/views. Or how nothing can really "upset" me. And when I do something in there view that's wrong, they get upset when I don't comprehend or agree that it was wrong. This Leeds to MANY discussions. Just wondering what your morals are if you have any and why it's wrong that I don't. Thanks for the response's

Who needs them 2

Who cares be yourself 5
I'm nothing without them 3

    tbh I don't think I have any morals either but I'm kinda glad that so many people do have them or we'd live in a state of total chaos.
    It's definitely a social construct and obviously not from an invisible unproven daddy in the sky. Morals are made by the people who have the power.

    Morals are completely a social construct and are based upon the people whatever morals help the people and the nation most are the best

    I've had similar thoughts. Chances are you do have some sort of value system even if you think you don't. You just think you don't because your values are different than your family's.

    I grew up in a family that always ranted and raved about things being "immoral" due to religious reasons. So, I developed an aversion to even hearing the term morals.

    However, we all have them. Everyone has some guiding principles even if it's as simple as thinking it's wrong to steal or something of the sort. It just isn't possible for anyone to go through life without developing a value system of some kind, even unconsciously.

    Morals are not a thing we are born with. They are taught us by people around us and are self learned over time. We CHOOSE to learn them because our conscience tells us that we should. If we have no conscience, we care nothing about them.
    When a psychologist is trying to diagnose certain personality disorders, such as psychopathy or sociopathy, one of the first things they check is for a lack of conscience and morals.

    i guess you dont exactly need morals but character/personality?? since you're born this way then just stay with who you are. maybe the people around you feel that you joke at the wrong timing?? try to be more serious so that you look mature to them and may lead to them respecting your opinions more. it's okay to be different =)

    Thought I was the only one. What I do is copy other people so I don't seem so obvious and therefore I don't get a lecture. It takes practice

    You might have some psychopathic tendencies, that's not necessarily a bad thing, that makes dealing with life's bullshit a lot easier. But if you really don't get them that might be it.
    I'm not a shrink though.
