Why do you have such high expectations for me

When i was younger i made straight A's and it was without trying, it just came so easily, then in middle school i started to make a B every now and then and that was ok, but then in Jr. High i started to make a C in some classes, now in high school i have two F's and no one knows. But everyone always talks about how smart i am and im not, i just use to do all my work and now i dont i hate school so much!! and i suck at it!! D:
why does everyone still think im so smart, i never do my homework, so stop praising me mother!!

Shoot, I had the same issue. Your grades do not reflect your intelligence all the time, but we're taught that they do. It gets really darned confusing in high school because at that point it's not about how intelligent you are, it's about how organized you are. I have an IQ of about 140, barely eked out a 3.0 GPA by the end of highschool.

It's the same thing in college; I'm acing all of my high level courses; History 599, Slavic Languages and Literature 378, etc., and somehow winding up with C's in classes like Bio 101. Really; how do you do that?
    1) Lose your Lab Book
    2) Lose your In-Class Clicker (How they take attendance)

At that rate it's a miracle I pulled a C out of the hat. It's only because my exam scores were phenomenal.

So from the evidence stated above, for all I can tell you probably are highly intelligent, but remember; your grades aren't a perfect reflection of who you are or how intelligent you are.

I'm 22 and in the military. I skipped school and never tried to do anything but the bare minimum in high school and thoroughly regret it. Stick with it and do your best. You'll regret it later if you don't. People I graduated with are going to be graduating once again in a few weeks and I could have been in that spot as well. You could always go out into the real world and learn for yourself that you will almost never get ahead in life without a college degree. Whatever you do, think it through

  • SAme here, though I haven't gotten an 'F' yet. I tried failing on purpose though, and they still passed me... but that's a different story.

Um, perhaps you just got sick of people calling you smart all the time, so subconsciously you strated trying less and less, or you started sabotaging yourself.

If your mother says you're smart that's no measure for anything, she says it because she's your mother.
If people around in general say you're smart maybe you should not underestimate yourself and wonder why they say it.
