Why do people underestimate me?

Im not that small. 5"4' 137 lbs.
I have a rather quiet demeanor and I'm detached when it comes to strangers.
But strangers aren't the ones that underestimate me. It's usually people that know me. When I'm around people that I'm comfortable with Im goofy and gregarious. But whenever I get angry they don't take me seriously and when I'm in a conflict with someone they think I won't be able to handle myself. This irritates the living shit out of me and I don't understand why they act this way towards me.

Sadly, yes, it is normal. I'm just like you, and people tend to find it unbelievable that I'm capable of emotions such as anger, and it extremely annoys me.

Maybe you're an introvert. Extroverts detect this and assume superiority, they don't consciously know they're doing it.

I find I can get my way in these situations with an unexpected emotional outburst, at the very least it shuts them up for a bit.

I feel you people underestimate me too. They treat me like a kid but usually the oldest one.
