Why do people try to talk to me about their health problems?

This happens a lot! People I don't even know try to talk to me about their health problems.

Here's some recent examples. I was having a garage sale and this lady starts telling me how she hasn't been out in a while because she's been really sick. OK lady, I really don't give a fuck. Then this lady from the neighborhood came over and invited me to a Christmas party and felt the need to tell me she has been sick lately. I sold something to someone through craigslist and when he came to pick it up he mentioned having some sort of injury. Whenever someone says this I think they are expecting me to sympathize or inquire about their ailments but I don't, and there's always this awkward silence. I guess they're used to a flood of 'oh, you poor thing' and other such baloney and they don't know what to do when they get someone like me who doesn't even pretend to give a shit.

I'd never tell someone I had been ill unless it was pertinent. Not only pertinent but absolutely necessary as well. Why do people think it's appropriate to try to unload their medical issues on others who have no reason to give a fuck? Are they just trying to feel important?

The world don't revilve around u. Just because someone is bitching about their pain or whatever doesn't mean they require ur sympathy. Like its the all saving grace they need to pry from ur cold dead hands lol

Well people talk to me about their problems in life because I listen to them and they can trust me because I forget that shit anyways but it's equally annoying.

i hate it, literally everyday i hear "my back hurts" or something very minor (and most likely bullshit) and it annoys me to all hell

It can be annoying, but when a person is sick/injured they tend to think about it a lot (and therefore want to talk about it). Also, there's this thing most people have called empathy. Might want to check into it.

Maybe you are over analyzing this way too much. People are people and they say and do weird things. I don know why people feel the need to tell you about their physical ailments and injuries etc.

But maybe you have a kind face and want you to somehow reassure them that it's normal or feel like they can confide in you.

That is my best guess, hope this helps and doesn't leave you more confused like it has me. Good luck hope things improve.
