Maybe they are considered "girly" because theirs about 3 girls in the entire movie, and 10 guys who constantly aren't wearing shirts.

    Twilight is solely responsible.

Sadly werewolf are now more liked by girly girls who would never have cared about vampires or werewolves before and would have thought that both were disgusting. It makes me sad that twilight was ever written.

I, being a boy, love vampires. But hate Twilight.

    Twilight. The sole reason.

Think about it. Vampires don't get hurt by sunlight. They sparkle. Pretty girly if you ask me.

Ugh. Suddenly vampires aren't so cool to me anymore...

I don't care for the Twilight series. I think it's a boatload of crap.

Yes I do agree about Twilight hitting off the Vampire craze but The Vampire Diaries were acutally written many years before Twilight.
    Well..Who agrees..Damon is soo Hott!!

vampires used to be serious business and now its just watered down into dull romance stories with no sadism in it and badassery

I do blame twilight for the vampire craze but that might not be a bad thing because without twilight bringing out/back the vampires we mith not have vampire diaries or true blood and such! nah keep watchin VD but if ya want gory then true blood definately isnt girly.

  • It isn't just "Twilight" that made this so, it's a barrage of shows and movies romantisizing vampires, specifically male vampired. I mean, you have things like Vampire Diaries, that I tried to get in to but watched half an hour of one episode and it didn't have anything to do with vampires, just romance things like a damn soap opera, True Blood, Twilight, and so on.

On that note, it is because of Twilight. It has given vampires a bad name. Vampires had swag before Twilight came along and ruined it.

The Vampire Diaries is certainly not girly. It is extremely dark and mysterious. Also, that is pretty cool that you are a boy and a fan of The Vampire Diaries. If I knew you we would get along very well!

    • Oh, please, it's probably just as much, if not more, as girly as Twilight. I love vampire shows/movies, so I thought I would give it a go, and for the first twenty to half an hour nothing about vampires was even in the key storyline, all it had was girls talking about she slept with this vampire guy, then slept with this other one, so she had mixed feelings, but wasn't too sure because she loved another vamp guy. I tried so hard to get in to it but just couldn;t given that around 70% of it is about vampires in relationships rather than vampires themselves.

I wouldn't say it's dark and mysterious at all. The show was made primarily for a female audience, and intended female audience media tends to be around the same crap; attractive monsters that can be changed with the power of looooooove.

I mean, the "diaries" part is indicator enough.

It's because of Twilight, even though those aren't vampires or werewolves. Those are carnivorous humans covered in glitter and shapeshifters.

    BTW, I LOVE Vampire Diaries!!!

Most are romantic, probably why. Twilight killed my love for vampires and wolves 4 years ago, I've hated them since.

Zombies all the way. Just think about it. Zombie sex is RIGHT sex. That decaying skin...rotted fluids.....ohyes.

    fuckin twilight

  • *?@#!!!

I think it's because most vampire novels/ movies main character is a teenage girl or young woman who has a Romeo and juliet story with a vampire. Personally, I love vampire books and movies, but maby that's because I'm 19, and still very in tune with teenage "girly" feelings lol.

Vampires are supposed to have a romantic charm to them that's how they get their victims but they don't sparkle.

In some iterations yes but commonly what your refering to is more of the charisma that is stereotypical of Vampires, not necesarilly romance.

to all the people who say twilight is solely responsible, boo.
vampires have been changing towards the fluffier side for years.
e.g: there are heaps of books n tv series n whatever with vampires in a more sympathetic romantic light waaayy before twilight.
    but twilight really cemented it.
