I'm currently being hated on by people who only met me once and I know a lot of you must have been/are being hated on. Why do you think that is mainly due to?

Ignorance. First impressions are still at an ignorant level. Judgments of other people stemming from your own insecurities are still at an ignorant level. Hating people you've never even met and know nothing about comes out of ignorance.
I think some people can be incredibly narrow-minded. I have had people hate me because I was a momma's boy and a nerd. I was an only child and a bit of a book-worm, so it was not easy for me to make friends. My dad was in the service too, so we moved around a lot. I still have trouble making friends. As the twig is bent, so grows the tree. C'est la vie.
because people are ignorant, I dont think it always has to do with jealousy...people are just too quick to judge.

and i am a girl-i am not one of the stupid dumbass girls either. i don't hate someone unless that other person does bad really bad to me. ya know? why the fk do girls hate on other girls. like i was eating dinner in San Mateo CA a week ago with 10 friends at some restaurant. i had to go to the bathroom, so i pick up my baby girl and walk to the bathroom, and some stupid dumb girl was giving me a hate look for no reason!!(a girl at another table with her mom-only the girl gave me the hate look)

Cause there haters and they cant help it, they really are insecure about themselves and maybe you have something they dont and that probably gets them mad...especially if your pretty too im pretty and I had a lot of people hate on me or it could be your just different from them I heard somwhere people get mad at stuff thats different from them...

Self-hatetred could also be a major factor.
Most likely it is because they are a little bit insecure with themselves. Everyone feels that way at some point but there are some people who just don't deal with it in the best way.
Also, sometimes people's personalities just clash. I will admit there have been people I have automatically disliked without knowing them first. I always try and be polite but other people are more outspoken. My point is, try not pay too much attention to the people who don't like you and surround yourself with those who love you for who you are! Take care :)
All breads down to jealousy. They hate the way you walk, talk, breath and speak because they know they aren't you. Keep your head high.

If you appear to be weak, ugly, or stupid, humans naturally pick up on that and "hate on it." It's the gene pool keeping itself policed.

I'm going through this shit right now with the dumb ignorant people that I have the misfortune of living around. They watch me all the time, talk about how they can't stand me and hate me, call me all kinds of names and know absolutely NOTHING about me. I don't talk to them and I believe that they are jealous because if someone can just watch you and hate you or can't stand you for no reason, then they are really Fucked Up and I have no use for people like that. If you can't stand someone and hate them so much, they WHY are you constantly watching them. Just Pathetic.

I think it's just because they have nothing better to do with their un-scheduled life, so they waste time stressing stupid opinions, then finding the strength to fight others who put forward THEIR points...
I voted "other", because the reason why I normally "hate on others" (though it's only happened maybe 3-4 times) is because their personality/attitude annoys me.
For example, I met a guy recently who drives very recklessly, curses (very) excessively, and judges everyone he sees based on how they look. I don't know much about him, not even his name, but those three things annoyed me so much that I couldn't stand to be around him.
I don't know what the reason is for other people, but in my case it's definitely not any of the reasons you listed. I think we all just have things that bother us about other people, and if someone has enough of those traits, then we automatically dislike them.

It is simply the very human "rule of thirds". One third of the people will like you for no rational reason (i.e. perhaps you remind them of their favorite aunts on some unconscious level, one third will be completely indifferent towards you and will treat you like someone they just bumped into on the elevator, and one third will hate you for no consciously rational reason - like "you have an annoying face-whatever". So, go out into life and have a good time..however, wear your seat belt, wear clean underware, and don't talk to weird-o's and strangers. If they ask you why, tell them it is bc they have an annoying face.
The real question here is why do people use the expression "hate on". I suppose I answered your question with my question. People "hate on" other people that they do not know because they can tell said person is ignorant and dumb.
sometimes its by first impressions. thats how quite a few people decide if they like you or not.
maybe you're friends with someone they like and you're closer to the person they like than they are.
or maybe you just have an annoying face.
Sometimes it's jealousy, for example if you're very cute, rich or smart. Other times it's just your looks or attitude, they might find you for example ugly, irritating, nerdy or cocky. When I hate people, I do my best to hide it, but doesn't always work.

Every single person has a way of thinking about how people should to behave, what's good and bad, and many think that just because you ain't doing what they think it's the right thing, they classify you, they can call u stupid, ignorant or well simple to hate u.
I'm Mexican and I hate every single thing related to Spain, due to the history of my country... there was a Jew guy telling me that I should to get over it already it's already history, I just told him than he should to also forget hittler and what he did. he got mad =P.
