Why do i rock back and forth any chance i get; is it normal?

So i've been rocking back and forth probably since I was 2 years old, im 19 now and still do it probably at leastt once a day. Usually before going to sleep, i'll put a pillow against my wall on my bed and rock back and forth listening to music. It usually keeps me up for hours doing it and I can never go to bed at a decent hour because of it. I don't have any metal issues, depression, ect. Its just soothing, addictive and I've been doing it for years. Does anyone else do this? Maybe have some advice, id really appreciate it

Hmm... I remember I used to find a kind of weird enjoyment out of that when I was a young child(around 5-8yrs old), while listening to music as well. But I think that was just because It was like a dance to me. Kind of like people who bob their head while listening to music. I think its like that. I think you just feel the music and go with whatever move. I mean, Ive always loved music, and have been highly sensitive to it ever since I was small. Maybe you do it because you feel such emotion to it. I wouldnt worry too much about it. But since youre 19 you should probably try to stop, or else people will probably start to think things. Unless of course, you dont care what others think. Do what you feel when the musics on.

I have always been super energetic and have rocked back and forth to music and without since as long as I can remember. Im 25 now and still spend hours a week doing this.

At 4 I shared a room with two of my brothers. I shared a bunk bed with a youger brother who is highly functioning autistic we used to both sing old songs and keep rhythm kicking rocking or he would bang his head on his bed.

As I got older I found that I just had too much energy and my body wouldnt sleep without the rocking. Doctors put me on a sleep med at one point and all that did was transfer the energy in my body to my legs and for the entire time I was on it I had RLS.

I also tried doing extreme physical sports to lose the energy. I would climb on a road bike mount diablo one a week and ride 30 miles a day. This only intensified my energy and made me get even less sleep. I would lay down to rest from my ride and 8 hrs later I would still be rocking.

In college dorm mates and neighbors thought I got a lot of sex and lasted forever. My roomate thought I had seizures. If im at a hotel people in other rooms hit my wall.

Recently my mom passed from cancer and my rocking has only become more prevalent. I literally get 3 good hrs of sleep but always have energy.

lol, to be honest, i do once a day right be4 i go to sleep and when i wake up, it puts me in such a good mood when i go to work or school. Its like i am in my own world, i get away to my own world for like 30 minutes. My grandma did that a lot when i was 1 and i took the habit ever since. haha, my mom used to tell me my head would be shaped like an egg if i kept on doing it, but i couldn't stop. I am 20 years old, and i cut it down to once a night, thats all, but i am sure when i am merried i will not ever do that anymore. Its NORMAL.
