Why do i look so bad on camera but fine in a mirror?

My friend took a video of me in the grass and I watched it and I realized that I looked like absolute shit. Don’t get me wrong, in front of a mirror I think I look really cute but on camera I look like the Atlanta housewife version of jeffree star only more pimply.

    could be you have a 480p mirror and a 1080p cell phone.

    I saw something once that said we are used to our mirror image reflection and when we see ourselves as others see us, a picture or video, it looks disfigured and confuses our brains. Maybe this is what's going on.

    Cellphone cameras make everyone look bad. Celebrities are always photographed with high tech DSLRs with super strong flashes when they’re looking their best and we’re conditioned to think that’s how you’re supposed to look on camera all the time, otherwise you’re ugly. But I bet if you took a picture of, say, Beyonce using a cellphone, without makeup and under bad lighting, she’d look pretty regular too.
