Why do I have so much empathy for my best friend who I have never physically met?

Okay, I have been talking to a girl for four and a half years now. She is my best friend. I have so much empathy toward her. I get worried about her. I think about her, and yes, we talk on the phone.

she lives in Puerto Rico, and I live in Kentucky. Is it normal to care about her even though we have never physically met?

    yeah i think its normal i never had a long distance friend before so i woudnt know for sure but if your relationship is as stong as you say it is then these feelings are normal
