Why do i behave like a kid?

This has been going on for as long as I can imagine. Even today (Married with 1 baby)I tend to behave like a kid.

Things like unable to stand still. Keep biting my nails and passing my hands thru my hair. If that is not enough, I crack jokes as if I am still in college or something. Many people have told me to grow up. I have tried my best to be serious an act properly, but it is next to impossible.

Dont know how I will be able to be a good father as I dont want my child to think of her father as a kid.

Do any of you have the same problem?

I took her out it was a Friday night
I wore cologne to get the feeling right
We started making out and she took off my pants
But then I turned on the TV

And that's about the time that she walked away from me
Nobody likes you when you're 23
And are still more amused by TV shows
    What the hell is ADD?
My friends say I should act my age
    What's my age again?
    What's my age again?

Then later on, on the drive home
I called her mom from a pay phone
I said I was the cops
    And your husband's in jail
This state looks down on sodomy

And that's about the time that bitch hung up on me
Nobody likes you when your 23
And are still more amused by prank phone calls
What the hell is caller ID?
My friends say I should act my age
    What's my age again?
    What's my age again?

And that's about the time she walked away from me
Nobody likes you when your 23
And you still act like you're in Freshman year
What the hell is wrong with me?
My friends say I should act my age
    What's my age again?
    What's my age again?

That's about the time she broke up with me (Please stay)
No one should take themselves so seriously (with me, please stay)
With many years ahead to fall in line (with me, please stay)
Why would you wish that on me? (with me)
I never want to act my age (please stay)
    What's my age again? (with)
    What's my age again? (me)

    What's my age again?

I've known women like that. It may be annoying for people around the person, but it's basically harmless. Recently reconnected with a female friend, and, talking to her at the sports bar, within five minutes, she threw out the f-bomb about ten times, made sexual references about the bartender, and was asking me about Tinder (dating site for young adults or kids) and, graphically, what she likes in bed, as if all this was new to her and excited her.

She's in her 40s and has a son, and does come off as vastly immature, but, if you know her, you understand and just deal with it. I like her and think she's smart and hot, but even my mind will think "She's gotta grow up a bit". Think she knows, just doesn't care, and is who she is.

If it's bad enough that you're starting to notice it, then yes.. you need to grow up. Your child needs a father figure, not another "friend". It is your job to teach your child how to be a man, (if you have male children). Don't short change your children, they deserve a father figure, at best.

yea it probably is a guy thing. theres nothing wrong with wantin to have fun and making jokes. if that makes u happy, then wats the problem?

but remember there's times to be serious and there's time to play around. just make sure your not being silly all the time. then it probably is time for some change.

  • Maybe you could give up nail biting - but really: so what? What is your idea of how you should be? Where does it come from? It sounds "SHOULDY" to me. Besides, I bet your wife loves her playful, energetic guy.

totally normal. you just sound like you are playful. i am 21 and im not planning on growing up any more than i am right now. i will be like this forever, acting old is lame and sad. i know and hang with wide variety of people and i know childish adults and they have perfectly normal lives. just make sure you are a father to your daughter, not a friend. i know some people that are pretty f@cked up and its because they are best friends with there parents. you know the ones... the ones that smoke pot with there dads and stuff like that. be a father. and a friend. some one she can trust but not trust enough to tell you who she is having sex with.

Well, it is definately normal to have a sense of humor...But if you have a short attention span or having to move and not being able to sit still, you may have ADD. You may need to talk to your doctor, and he/she may tell you you either have ADD or ADHD. I am a preschool teacher, and one of my students was very active and he had a very short attention span and would get scared easily and he would make up imaginary stories in his mind. I talked to his mother and doctor, and he was later diagnosed with ADHD. He may have made up the imaginary stories because he was 3 at the time, but you may have a more advanced type of ADD or ADHD. Beside all of this, you may just be a really fun and happy guy.

If you are under 40 you probably just need to mature on your own a little more- or, someday, what people see now as immaturity will evolve into something better percieved, like vitality, or youthful energy :)
