Why do girls do this.??

I am an 18 yearold female. I like to have fun and to laugh, but i HATEEEEE the girls that take it over board. I am posting this, because i just heard two girls outside that reminded me of this pet-peeve. Why do they deem it necessary to squeal, screech, LAUGH AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS, and yell!? It drives me insane. It does not matter the social setting or the situation, they still do it!

  • Females? I've seen guys do it too! Yeah it's annoying, but you know what REALLY pisses me off? People who generalize.

It's called having fun and taking time out of your day to be carefree and relaxed...ease up and close your window...or better yet get some friends!

    • or maybe you should OPEN UP A WINDOW to intelligence and figure out how MATURE, CLASSY ADULTS act. Squealing like a pig is neither attractive, nor appropriate. LAUGH AS MUCH AS YOU WANT, but the squealing is unneccessary and shows a very juvenille side of your personality. Oh, and guys do not find it attractive.

It depends what it's at ... there are some things that I will laugh at for half an hour onwards and I would never be ashamed for doing so, I would just say "lighten up". And that's not for attention, it's because I literally can't stop.
Other times, I know what you mean. But why not laugh at how stupid they look?

yes I think I know what u mean. those type dont knoe who they are yet so they have to fake it and try to get attention by being loud. most times I think they try to compensate for lack of self confidence and/or self esteem.

I'm a girl also, and yes I think it is annoying. It makes them sound so fake and it is not attractive at all.

A lot of girls think that if they act "cute" by laughing and giggling it will get them attention.

  • Actually anyone making loud noises like squealing and giggling annoy me like nothing else. I just wish they would shut up but of course they never do.

I totally get where you're coming from.

  • Gosh there should really be more girls like you. Consider that a good compliment.

if you're with friends and enjoying than i think its normal and acceptable for you to laugh out loud and be a bit crazy ..
being a girl and doing this I personally think not every girl intends to grasp attention .I don't think it would be right to judge them this way..
many are much careless of what people think and whether they get attracted or not they just want to enjoy the moment..

If something was really that funny, it's normal. But to seek attention, that's just sad.

I'll have to agree with some of the other people on here, it's REALLY annoying but it's normal and that's just how it goes. :/

Yeah. I can always tell when the school bus drops off the kids. They are obnoxious and loud. One day I even caught 2 middle school girls making pebble angels in the neighbors yard. We don't get snow here so I guess they tried with pebbles. They were so loud I had to come out of house and tell them to stop.

  • Lol yeah it's annoying. It gets worst if the person starts clapping as if they were a retarded seal :/

News for you: girls have been doing this since the beginning of civilization. I used to find it very annoying but then I just accepted it, like crying babies or kids jumping against you in the park

For the last 5 years a couple of girls pass by in the lane within earshot but not in sight. They get off the schoolbus and walk along doing just what you said giggling, screaming and squealing at high pitch.
After a few weeks I got used to it and would know it was 3pm just when I heard them.
This went on until this year. I still hear them go by but their voices are a lot less squealy and they are much quieter, snippits of conversation suggest they are talking about others, probably boys. I have never actually seen them. Ny daughter was not like that so it's a matter of ; some are and some aren't.
My peeve is in movies and the women scream at... at.. well anything.

For a second I thought we were talkig about 'girls' instead of adults...and I wasn't aware that the 'authority' on all things that men like was so critical on joy. I feel as if you must have been deprived of friendships and times where you were allowed to let yourself get carried away with your friends HARMLESSLY. Lets talk about what the youth of America would be solemn soldiers.

It's just about youth. I'm older now, but when I was younger the girls I knew did that as well. They'll stop when they mature.
