Why do asians have great skin even tho they eat white rice every day?

I’ve always wondered this. They said too much white rice can cause acne as well as health problems like diabetes, obesity, heart diseases etc. but why do Asian countries have better skin and lower rates of these diseases compared to other countries who don’t consume white rice? Should I start eating white rice every day too?

Where did you hear the white rice thing? I've never heard of it causing acne.

    • I took a Nutrition class in college and I learned that foods with high glycemic index like white rice, white bread etc is associated with increase production of hormones that increases sebum production. And if you have too much sebum on your skin, you are more likely to develop acne. It also increases blood sugar levels which can lead to inflammation, which of course contributes to it.

Interesting. I've always heard that diet has little bearing on acne, but your explanation sounds rational. Thanks. I'll look into it sometime.

The asians in my social circle have average skin. Some have terrible acne, some have it better, others are in between - like normal people. I haven't noticed this around me at all. Granted, my friends are asian-american. Your observation may be from actors and musicians who obviously will have better skin.

If this is actually statistical, I've also read that the beauty industry in Asia is booming. People, male and female, commonly have complicated skin-care rituals with dozens of products. Perhaps thats why? The disease statistic is likely due to the fact that weight is also important to them, and as such restuarants and even gas stations have healthier options.

They eat whit coloured food so much. so, if u eat white coloured food to that level, then u will also become one of like them. bcuz white foods contribute to skin colour they make our skin white and u know white skin looks good even if ur skin has some acne on it😊

    • Okay, first of all, white-colored foods don’t make ur skin whiter. Your skin color depends on your genes only. Also, when I said “asians have great skin”, I didn’t mean the color of their skin, I meant how clear their skin is.

  • I have a Chinese gf. She eats white rice quite rarely (once a week or less). It's a stereotype and it's not true. They eat more rice than us perhaps, but definitely not every day

    Complicated skin care rituals?
    Yea, bathe.
A well blooded asian doesn't even need deodorant.
You think the porcelain doll, great in bed, stereotypes aren't there for a reason.
    Good blood.
    Small frame
    High metabolism
    High sex drive
    Clean complexion
Our upbringing is where you get the preferences for rice.
    Respectful nature
    Study habits etc.
Only a banana, coconut is different.

    • Stereotypes are there for a reason, my gf is Asian and she is really a porcelain doll great in bed. Many of them are. A big proportion is well represented by this stereotype
