Why did most marriages lasted in the old days?

Well it is real fact that most marriages did last in the old days compared to today which now the divorce rate is over 50 percent. With most women very busy these days sleeping around all the time which they will never be able to commit to only one man anyway. And when will they ever find the time to do that? Hell no, since most women are partying animals now more than ever as well as getting real wasted with their girlfriends. And God forbid if they do get married since the great majority of these very pathetic women will cheat anyway since they really don't know what real commitment is in the first place. Most these women will just grow very old all alone with their cats when their time comes. A very different time we live in today compared to the old days when there was more commitment back then. Been there and done that.

Most young men like partying and getting wasted with their friends too...guys sleep around a lot also...so don't put the blame fully on women.

In the past marriages lasted longer for a number of reasons: the stigma of divorce (especially for women); women had nowhere to go if they were being bashed or raped and very few women could financially support themselves and their children if they left.

I do not believe "most women" are sleeping around any more than men are: where do you get that idea from?

This idiot frequently posts about how women are evil sluts. Hes unable to accept his own role in his forced celibacy.

I agree Ellenna. The stigma of divorce was quite big in Western Society and often the support for the non working partner was not available or extremely difficult to obtain.

You do this in many non Western cultures where the stigma still exists hence why their divorce rates are lower than in the West.

Women were promiscuous a long time ago just like today, for example the flapper girls in the speakeasies of the 1920s. It's not something that's just started happening in recent decades.

Ha ha I'm probably old enough to be your grandma! Not sure what you're asking me about, but I can say just about everything was different

Men and women were promiscuous a long time ago just like today. The flapper girls in the speakeasies of the 1920s were totally loose and immoral. This is not only something that has happened in modern times.

Survival. Women didn't have any rights back in those days, they had to marry.

However, you seem to hate women, so you probably think we deserve to be treated less or some shit like that. Not all women are bad.

  • It’s due to the disposable society. Don’t need it, don’t want it, then just throw it away and get a new or updated one. Divorce probably correlates directly to the turnover/upgrades of iPhones.

I mean divorces weren't really allowed for a long time, and even when they were legalised, there was a huge stigma around it (particularly for women, which has already been said). Nowadays, when a woman is unhappy in a relationship it's not only more acceptable for her to end the marriage but is so much easier (there were a lot of legal things against women trying to file for divorces).

Not true. Women had been fighting feircely for women's rights and independence for a good 100 years or so now, going back to the women's suffrage movements of the 1910s. They finally started succeeding when WW1 killed so many men to where women greatly outnumbered men for a while, which in turn made women so desperate for male companionship, that they started going to extreme lengths, thus introducing flapper girls. They'd already been fighting for their rights, but they finally succeeded then.

Because marriage is an obsolete institution designed to keep people all doing the same thing focusing on nice houses and raising children and falling in line to the system.

Read about flapper girls of the 1920s, they partied and slept around just like women today (the differences of course being the music, clothes, and there was no internet, internet porn, dirty texting or tweeting). Loose women is not a new deal, it wasn't a new deal in the late 1960s either.

Oh, yeh, I'm sure you were. There were some differences 80 or 100 years ago. People had more of a simplicity about their characters because it was an early time, they didn't talk quite the same way, and the word fuck was much less common, they wore different clothes, liked different music and dancing, but they did still have the same hormones as now. Hormones and urges have always been the natural functions of human beings and animals that have kept the human race, and the animals in existence.

today, men and women are starting to become equal.. back in the days men can do what the fuck they want, follow their dreams and passions, drink and party, cheat and fuck around etc.. while women are just stuck at home being caretakers.. but today we can do all that shit too.. equality bitch, deal with it c:

  • This was the dumbest shit I've read today. Made absolutely no fucking sense. Combined arguments from everyfuckingwhere with no relation in a dumb way that is visibly non-sensical and only reveals your pathetic frustration of being a cuckold.

    I blame the internet/mobile phones ..
There could have been just as much cheating back in the day but it would have been easier to hide.
People message each other all day now and have nothing to talk about when they get home.
My grandparents met at a dance and actually liked each other, instead of swiping and settling for somebody they don't really like that much.
    Also, bitter much?

I think the lying and cheating thing is about equal for both sides. I know plenty of guys that pull that crap too. Honestly, I think the problem is a lack of a lengthy courtship to find out if you could actually stand the person you're with coupled with social media. Staying in touch with ex boy/girlfriends can be a recipe for disaster
