Why did i have a bad reaction to smoking weed?

So I haven't smoked weed for like 8 months, but I was with my friend just recently and we smoked out of his bong. I just started to feel SO tired and I was laying on his bed and I just felt like I couldn't move, like all my thoughts and stuff were perfectly clear but I just felt like I couldn't move my body at all. Like it took SO much effort to just speak. Then after laying there for awhile I just got SO cold, the room wasn't cold what so ever but I was freezing and I was shaking, and I remember my friend just putting a bunch of blankets on me. Like I was literally laying there not moving for like four hours and it felt like 30 minutes and I have NEVER acted that way when high before. It was probably one of the most embarrassing moments of my life because I just KNEW I was acting so weird and I kept apologizing to my friend but I honestly just could not help it. I'm just wondering if anyone has some insight as to why I acted this way?

Listen to all these dumb, totally unhelpful comments. I admit mine wasn't very helpful either. Here's the thing: weed is a mixed bag. This time it fucked up your head space in a way that made you uncomfortable. That happens. Maybe it was the strain that didn't get along with you. Maybe you're out growing pot. That happens to people. It happened to me. I'm on the other end of the spectrum though. Weed makes me so jacked up and paranoid I can't handle it anymore. It makes my body feel really uncomfortable. You're not going to get the same effects from smoking weed every time. That's a given. Chock it up to a bad experience and move on.

Marijuana is the most unpredictable drug ever. That's why I stick to narcotics. You can't go wrong there. You know what's going to happen every time.

Good idea, instead of getting psyched out and paranoid, he can go into cardiac arrest.

A little heroin won't hurt anybody. Opiates are benign to the liver. And if he doesn't want to use narcotics he can always try benzodiazapines. You can't go wrong there.

There's at least some truth to that, benzos (as long as they're not mixed with alcohol or anything other than weed) are far less dangerous than opiates.

Wow, wrong. Benzo's are far more dangerous. I was just fucking around with all that talk. See comment below. Benzo's are far worse all around. Almost no one has ever died from withdrawing from an opiate. Are *needles* more dangerous than popping pills? Ok, sure.

More dangerous than opiates? Not true. Sure, they have some of the worst withdrawals, but, by itself, it's far less likely to kill you than opiates are.

Maybe your friend sprinkled a little heroin on that weed...

When you say you "couldn't move your body", do you mean that in the sense of "I'm so tired I can't move/I'm freaked out, can't move" or do you literally mean "coma patient, can't move no matter how hard they try".

The first one's normal, the other is definitely not. So as long as you're exaggerating a little here, it all sounds completely normal.
I'm not trying to sound harsh, it's just that there's a big difference between feeling a little heavy and literally not being able to move... you know what I mean?

Strong weed can mess up your thinking, and it can make you feel uncomfortable and freak you out if you're not used to it.
The feeling cold part sounds like your senses were a bit messed up, which isn't really a big deal in this case, I don't think.
Mellow weed can be a whole other ballpark to super strong stuff, especially with no tolerance. Don't think all your weed experiences are going to be the same.

Every time I have tried weed, I have gotten very anxious and paranoid. It is not for me. Even if it doesn't affect me that badly I still feel too out of control to enjoy it.

That would probably be because of the time lapse you mention. Any drug can cause different reactions if you don't have it for a while. Was the gap in use chosen?

What do you mean by time lapse?

The 8 months break that caused your tolerance to go way down. If you don't smoke weed for a long time, and then smoke really strong stuff, it can freak you out, that's all.

Your tolerance must have been down after all that time, maybe it's just some really dank shit and you got way too fucked up? More isn't always better. Perhaps it was laced?

No I don't think it was laced. My friend was literally just fine but he does smoke often. But it was just weird because I only did one bowl and I have NEVER felt that weird before.

Laced or some contaminant maybe its time to change the bong water.

It could have been an allergic reaction to something on the weed or a mold. It could also have been food poisoning that you associated with the weed smoking. But there can be bad side effects to any drug use. You just have to accept that fact if you plan to continue smoking weed. Sometimes bad things happen.

Food poisoning? OP doesn't mention throwing up or having the runs so why do you think that?

You don't always throw up from food poisoning.

I think you're wrong: it's invariably vomiting and diarhorea

Food poisoning symptoms vary with the source of contamination. And I am not going to get into an argument with you since you seem to know more than the Mayo clinic.

That's funny, did I say that? I've often heard of and personally encountered food poisoning with only vomiting, but never without. Some gastric viruses or infections yes, but not actual poisoning from contaminated food.

Yeah I didn't throw up or anything. I didn't even eat anything other than like a couple of oranges for the past two days.

Well you need to eat more than that! Try some plain boiled rice if you're still not feeling well and LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER ....
