In the movie 'Dumb and Dumber' and in the movie 'Pulp Fiction' they make jokes about men being raped. If you tried the same scene with a woman it would not be funny it would be traumatic to watch. So why is that?

I actually took a comedy class in my writing course. It's called equivelance.
You CAN do slapstick on a young man/woman, but you can't on a child. It's because it's just not funny to see a child get hurt.
You can have a thief steal a wheelchair then get rolled around the city and hurt in multiple ways, but you can't have a legit paraplegic do this because that would just be cruel.
As it is 1 in 4 women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetimes, which is a scary number. 94% of rapists get away with it. There is no way to make a woman getting raped funny.
However, the male statistics on rape are much lower, (i know this is, in part, because men are less likely to own up to being raped) and women raping men is rarely violent and more often manipulative or drug related.
24% of women are raped in their lifetime.
3% of males are raped by other males.
So few men are raped by women (that report it or get believed) that there is actually no statistic that I can find.
The thing is men aren't told from the age of 10 "watch out! you might get raped if you go out at night!" or "You're asking for it going out dressed like that!". Women are taught from a young age it could happen anytime, anywhere from anyone.
Men aren't taught this. The chances of a man getting violently raped in an alley at night are MUCH lower than with women, most men are raped by people they know in more manipulative environments. They're also told (if a woman rapes them) that they should have enjoyed it, it was a free fuck.
It's wrong, but it's the way the world works. It's okay to make jokes about men being raped because it's not anywhere near as likely to happen to them. It's way too likely to happen to a woman.
Hmmmm, I guess raped in the ass is just funnier than raped in the vagina.
I didn't think the rape scene in Pulp Fiction was supposed to be funny, and both other male rape scenes that I can recall (Deliverance, American History X) weren't used for comedic effect either.
Anyways, I think it's basically the same principle that allowed showing the Rio de Janeiro Christ statue being demolished in the movie 2012, but not, say, the grand mosque in Mecca. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.
Ive seen a Spanish soft core porn comedy where a woman was raped. That has to count.
