Why are there so many fat women in adverts?
Hi guys, bigbud here, has anyone noticed that advertising is full of fat women now? I'm curious as to see from the female perspective if women now think obese/fat women are a body standard to aim for?
I remember hearing this thing about "unrealistic standards" a few years ago, and I started to notice it more. As a guy, I saw that it came in the way of underwear models being ripped and having six packs. I looked down at my flabby belly and then back at the picture, but this desire to say that wasn't a good body didn't come over me. The belief that my fatness was "beautiful" didn't come over me. I thought "that's the kind of body I want to have", and although I haven't go that body today, I still aim for it.
I just don't get why there seems to be this push towards thinking obesity is beautiful. Do most women now think that having flab rolls/ being obese is something that is healthy and attractive? Do you girls look at the obese women on tv and think "that's what I want to look like"? And if not then what is it?
I looked up the obesity rates through the years, per country; have we essentially given up in the west on being healthy and attractive, or do people genuinely think this obese body type is something to aim for; also, are there any guys out there who think being fat is beautiful/ healthy and who would rather have that body than the athlete kind displayed on underwear packages? This situation is very confusing to me, so please do share your opinions, guys.
