Why are some americans so against us?

Hello,
My name is Hazel, and I hail from Dublin, Ireland,
I just took a trip round' America and whilst I was there some lads and lasses were asking me where I was from, so I told them I was from Ireland. Now, some were interested and some gave me disgusted looks and walked off. Why is that? do some of you just assume because I'm Irish that Im a catholic? I'm now back in my town and only yesterday I was walking my Irish terrier, and some American eejit ( Irish term for '' moron/idiot ) came up to me and told me that us Irish people were complete feckin' ( excuse me for my Irish slang ) idiots! I gave him the v ( irelands version of flipping off ) sign and walked off. Are any of you against Irish people? please let me know!

    Never heard of it, most Americans love Irish and claim Irish heritage a lot. Irish people are cool especially when swearing a lot, cunt, feck, shite, etc. we don't get to hear these words often enough

    Irish-ness is incredibly popular in the region of the US I live in. Where did you run into people with anti-Irish sentiment? I thought that died out generations ago, along with the anti-Italian thing.

      I agree. Americans always celebrate St. Patrick's day pretty enthusiasticly. And other Americans I've ever talked to about Irish/Ireland have always said good things. Where were these Irish haters from? And it is very stupid to go around saying you hate a certain nationality while in their country and you're the minorities. I have always known, if you hate the French, stay out of France. If you hate Germans, stay out of Germany. If you hate the Irish, stay the feck outta Ireland.

        Seriously, I love Irish people, but I really love the Scottish people with that sexy accent!
