Why are some adults way more ignorant than children/teens?

Grandson has a slight case of aspergers and a lot of facial deformities and has trouble speaking and is a little deaf. He was born like this. Kids are nice to him it is the adults who say the most idiotic things I have ever heard. I try to praise him because he is an awesome kid and defend him from ignorant people but it has to be hurtful to him. He seems to just shrug it off and keeps being his happy self. It makes me really angry and my daughter depressed and cry.

Because children by nature do not look at the physical traits or a person, but by their character. When you grow up, you tend to become more shallow. Jesus said that once you become like a child, you will be so pure and enter heaven. For this exact reason!

Kids are nice to him? I'm a little shocked. It could be their schooling. Schools try to promote goodwill between special children and non-special children. I'll admit, sometimes adults can be ignorant fools. For me (I'm not special), it was pretty much always the other way around.

I'm sorry that people are such jerks. Just remember not to let other people's social shortcomings make you feel bad about yourself. :)
