Why are people so bitter?

Specifically, about politics. I'm not here to point out either side, as that's not what this is about.

Often times, I'll be enjoying a video. Not at all would it be related to something political. I'll scroll down and read the comments; funny stuff. Then somehow, a political comment with all sorts of wild assumptions. I have no idea how they were about to reach certain conclusions. But why can't they just enjoy the content as-is?

Earlier today, I read a comment about someone's grandmother who has passed away. Then underneath those replies, someone has managed to completely warp their story and make it political. I really don't understand.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

The internet is just somewhere to vent. To take anything said on the internet comment section for more than a few grains is a mark of a fool.

    • You're right, I should really just ignore it and move on with my day. It's just that I've seen it so many times that it really just grew on me. I guess that's how it gets you.

Cause special snowflakes who are sheepish cowards and idiots who would never make a peep in real life, can safely vent on the internet about their stupid political beliefs and bash everything else.
It's very trendy to hate capitalism, corporations, the law, etc and to be all about getting high constantly, not working and more degeneration of society.

But our special snowflakes can't rise against the machine, cause they work a dead end job and barely make it through the month, so to feel a bit better about themselves, they annoy other people.

  • "Why are people so bitter?", because they drink too much coffee, in my country at least.

If you are looking at youtube, yeah, people say weird stuff in comments. It could be just a song video, like by a classic metal band and eventually someone will say "Your mom is a fag who likes Justin Beaver!" Or things like, "I am 13 and I was at The Rolling Stones first concert!"
Or the thumbs down, someone will make some dumb comment about it. Shit like, "2.5K people know it's rock and roll and don't like it".
But whatever, at least it is predictable.
    NOW...

It is one thing to bitch about politics on the web but some people have a habit of doing it in real life.

I heard this song a while back from the 80's called "The politics of dancing". My first thought was, "Oh Jeeze, if Ron heard that song, would he start bitching about the politics of dancing?" Ron was some guy I knew who thought worrying and complaining about the GOVT would make a difference.

Because you can vent on the internet anonymously and a lot of people love to complain and feel superior to others. It boils down to grown adults acting like children

  • Politics have a nasty habit of coming up, because the system of government and laws pertain to just about every aspect of our lives in society.

The government was a part of that person and their grandma's lives too, so it's honestly not that far a stretch find the effects of politics somewhere in there, despite that perhaps being distasteful.

People are bitter and sensitive about politics, because politics are the means by which another person's opinions, leading to their choice of vote, can cause unfavorable changes in their lives.

Understandably, that's threatening. When people are threatened, that causes strain, worry, and often indignation, which unfortunately, is often expressed by lashing out.

That's an ape reaction, though. Which only leads to further unrest, pulling people further down below their brains' true capabilities to understand, reason, and respectfully debate.
