Why are people fighting about curvy vs. skinny?

how about instead of “all body types are beautiful” we say “beauty is extremely subjective and fleeting and doesn’t determine your worth and you don’t owe attractiveness to anyone so why don’t you focus on something important like being a worthwhile human being”

no u r dumb and tacky 8

Curvy like beyonce is fine as with skinny like katemoss . Any thing above is fat, I'm sick of fat people being called 'curvy'

I agree, but a lot of people do place a lot of importance on looking attractive and it's not their fault that they do that. Like it or not (and I don't like it), people are genetically programmed to want to look attractive to themselves and other people, and some people find it harder to overcome that compulsion to care than others do (especially when it's a message that society reinforces by default).

That said, a lot of people like caring about being attractive and don't secretly wish they didn't feel like they had to. A lot of people also worry about their personality and wish that society didn't care about personalities, so it goes both ways. It just so happens that good personalities hold a lot more objective value to society than good looks do, so caring about them makes more sense.

I don't get people wishing their personality was different. It's like wishing that they were a different person which is equivalent to wishing that they didn't exist.

Some people think of themselves differently to that. Like I know a lot of people who wish they were more intelligent, and a few more who wish they didn't get angry so easily or were more optimistic. I think wanting to be a better person is a rational thing to want. It's not so much wishing you didn't exist, but wanting to be the best version of you you can possibly be.

I think a bit like you do, though. Thinking like that is a good way of dealing with and accepting your flaws without stressing too much over them. A lot people can't think that way though, or don't want to.

Curvy was originally made for overweight women. Then the phenomonon of big bootys, huge titties with flat stomach came upon the word and say that's curvy or thick. Fat is offensive, and curves is an appropriate word for bigger girls because they have alot of curves all over their body. Not 2 curves from their sides to their hips. All bodies are beautiful..

I think that you are wrong in your entire question. You assume that one cannot care about one's appearance AND try to be a better person at the same time. Personally speaking, I don't care what anyone ELSE looks like, but I myself love to look lovely, and it is my belief that I achieve that on a consistent basis. I truly don't understand people like yourself who are "haters" on people like me who happen to have a creative, artistic nature that we express through our appearance. It's just another form of art, babe! It almost sounds as though you are slightly jealous of those whom YOU perceive to look better than you. I stress the word YOU because beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, and therefore it is insane nonsense to compare oneself to anyone other than... one's own self! I can never be the prettiest or most beautiful woman in the room no matter where I go; someone will realistically always be better looking than I am. Why? Because another person in that same room will have that perception. I can, however, compare myself today to myself YESTERDAY and say, "Wow, I look better today than I did at such and such a time!".

All of the above contributes to expansion of artistic expression, confidence, good feelings about oneself, etc. So for you to conclude that caring what you look like is "useless" is rather pointless.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I don't get it either, neither is particularly attractive compared to fit/athletic.
