Why are humans so obsessed with cats?
Why do we humans literally worship cats? The Egyptians did that 4000 years ago, and it never really stopped when you think about it.

The Egyptians understood that cats would eat tiny creatures that invaded their homes. They likely saw this as Bast/Bastet protecting their homes. In modern day, this has continued to some extent.

Because cats are awesome, beautiful cute and cuddly. Egyptians believe cats were the gatekeepers to the underworld or something like that.

I love cats. The way they show affection is very unique compared to other animals. If you were an ancient egyptian (maybe without as much education as you have now) and this creature started purring and vibrating against you its easy to see why they worshipped them. Their behaviour is hard to put your finger on, as sometimes they want attention sometimes not. I was high on weed once and felt like this cat next to me was communicating through touch - it was very weird :')

The simple answer is because cats were domesticated to kill rodents; rodents spread diseases and were bad for humanity.
