Is it normal to talk so much about your children to other people in the office that they know everything about them, right down to everytime they sneeze? I even know their toilet habits!!!
There are easy ways to handle this, every time someone starts up on what their stupid kid recently did, politely excuse yourself for whatever reason (work, bathroom, phone call, etc). Showing very little interest in the conversation when it comes up is a good course of action as well. Although some people are so dense they dont take the hint.
I cant stand the way people are with their kids as well. Especially considering some are so dense about it they act as if something is wrong with you when you some no interest in the topic and even tell them so. When someone goes for pictures of their kids I always respond with pictures of my dog, I actually had someone tell me they didnt really care about that, I responded with
EXACTLY !!
It's normal but it's also normal for you to respond "who cares" lol. I would I hate that it's annoying.
Unfortunately it is pretty normal, although it shouldn't be. Recently I learned the details of my coworker's child's last week of bowel movements. My life is now complete.
